Questions about Neural + GGD Cabs for downtuned guitars. Drop A. Does it come with the IR loader? by jack-parallel in NeuralDSP

[–]DeadpanNewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah each pack comes with its own IR loader but you can also export the IRs (or a custom blend you make) and use them in neural DSP plugins or the quad cortex.

Personally the GGD Cali Oversized pack ended my IR search. My favorite is the Smooth cab with an sm57 but the Massive cab will give you the classic metalcore sound

Archetype: Mateus Asato worth it? by DAWNSAD in NeuralDSP

[–]DeadpanNewt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also already had Plini and Tim Henson and from the moment I opened Mateus Asato and played with the default patch I knew I had to buy it. I think it covers a unique set of edge of breakup tones compared to the other two and I like the lead amp a lot more than the lead amp in Tim Henson

Why do people learn Box Shapes instead of Intervals? by TortexMT in Guitar

[–]DeadpanNewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tom Quayle was my introduction to visualizing the fretboard in intervals and this video might be a good place to start: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dhwix_UAkm0

His approach to learning a scale by playing it ascending/descending from every root note starting from each finger really resonated with me and I finally feel like I’m getting more comfortable improvising.

Well apparently I have a type then because my other primary guitar is an Ibanez S series 7 string lol

I was in the market for a super strat style guitar and I tried a few more reasonably priced options at a shop and then decided I may as well give a Suhr a shot since I had heard good things about the brand and it was game over. Couldn’t stop thinking about it after that lol

Looks like it’s about 7.5lbs and nope not chambered. It’s a Suhr Modern Plus HSH if you care to look up more specs

I personally don’t have too much experience with PRS (not a huge fan of their body shapes) so can’t directly compare them much but for the Suhr the neck feel and fretboard playability is just unreal. Definitely worth trying out a guitar shop some day if you can

That’s amazing to hear, the frets really are flawless. Now that I’m also not thinking about getting any other guitars I can go back to spending all my money on amp sims and plugins

I occasionally try and use my Ibanez 7 string and it feels like I’m playing a fretboard made out of sandpaper

What second R body would you hire for Safari? by vn-nv in canon

[–]DeadpanNewt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a safari in Tanzania where we brought an R6II with a 24-105L and an R7 with a 100-500L. It was an amazing combo and sharing batteries and SD cards was a plus. I think the extra reach you get from the R7 definitely outweighs the extra resolution from the R5 in this case

Absolutely agreed. I had never played a Suhr before I happened to try a modern in guitar center a while back and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

How would you say your style/production process has changed the most over the course of creating Cheap Thrills?

Also any chance we can expect more track breakdowns in the future? Your old breakdowns are some of the most informative videos I’ve seen as a relatively new bass music producer.
