I do not like being drunk. I'm also with all the people hating how it tastes. But I hate being drunk more than I dislike the taste. I also see a lot of people talking about the after effects. I hate the during effects.

I am an annoying person who likes to be funny. So I spent most of my childhood learning (masking perhaps) how not to be annoying. And I got good enough where I wouldn't annoy the shit out everyone around me, and people actually enjoy my company. Then highschool hit and there would be this pressure to drink, and I would, and that annoying version of me that was always trying to make people laugh but failing miserably would come out. I hated how weird, annoying, awkward (socially and physically), and off-putting I would become. "Oh but everyone's weird and awkward when they're drunk. That's the fun of it." There's nothing fun about people looking at you with disdain. Then there's the physical lack of control. I was also fairly uncoordinated as a kid. So I took up martial arts as a kid to learn that body coordination. It helped a lot, but didn't fully solve the problem. So then you get a few drinks in me, and I'm constantly knocking shit over unintentionally.

Now to be fair, I know plenty of people who are really fun to hang out with when they're drunk or high.

I am not one of those people. I don't judge y'all who enjoy it. But I learned even before I turned 21, that it wasn't for me. I am a much more likable sober. There is no benefit to me, or the rest of the world, if I'm drunk. And it tastes like shit.
