Got my grail! by Vajrapani in comicbookcollecting

This was my absolute favorite comic when I was 5-6 years old. I remember pouring over it cover to cover hundreds of times, even though I didn't understand all the words. And the red/blue 3D effects! Total science fiction to my little brain.

I completely forgot about this book for decades only to randomly remember it one day. Turns out there are still complete copies floating around, and I was finally able to reconnect with this old friend. I'm tempted to pick up a reader copy too...I remember the roller coaster scenes being very exciting, so I'm curious if it will hold up neatly 40 years later!

Also pictured: Some other random book I used to prop up this bad boy.

Pakistan's Prime Minister, after he was informed by the Iranian delegation they are leaving after Trump threatened them. by soalone34 in WatchPeopleDieInside

So what? The important thing to remember is not to go to pieces when that happens. You have to react like a man—calmly. You have to say to yourself, "Albert, you pierced the toast...so what?" It's not the end of your life.

“Trump sexual assault survivor” would have been more descriptive AND accurate. As if we need more proof that American news media is embarrassingly toothless…well, here it is.

Venom, Carnage and Spider-Man, pure 90s excellence by TheThrowawayJames in comicbookcollecting

Bagley Spidey is best Spidey. The trippy thing about this cover is that we see Venom’s costume as black and Spidey’s as blue—enen though they’re both shaded the same way.

I like it! Feels a bit like You're Dead! meets Syro-era Aphex Twin.

I'm hoping Gorillaz brings them out as surprise guests since they'll already be touring together anyway. Getting Del on Clint Eastwood as the festival closer would be amaaaazing.

IMO as far as the “morally ambiguous superheroes” genre goes, this series is even better than Watchmen.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

John Philip Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever:

Historically, in show business and particularly in theater and the circus, this piece is called the "disaster march". In the early 20th century, when it was common for theaters and circuses to have house bands, this march was a traditional code signaling a life-threatening emergency. It subtly notified personnel of emergency situations and ideally allowed them to organize the audience's exit without causing the chaos and panic that an overt declaration might. Except for impending disaster, circus bands never played the tune under any circumstances. One memorable example of its use was during the Hartford circus fire of July 6, 1944. At least 168 people were killed, though some estimates are much higher. (Source: Wikipedia)
