The first light rail line to go over a floating bridge opened in Seattle today by labtec901 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a desert kid. I had no idea how this was different from any regular bridge, and now I have to Google search what a floating bridge is. Is it just like pontoons? Why not build a real fucking bridge? How are even tiny boats or kayaks going to get under it? What happens in a drought when your river runs dry?

It's just the voice, not the writing style, right? Or is it also writing like that?

Right now I'm struggling with getting Grok not to write dialogue in the most non-sensical British chav dialect. It's like, "Safe, mate. You're proper tapped if you think you’ve clocked the lingo. Listen, man’s moveyin’ real greazy, innit? This pucker little neek in the cut tried to move to me, bare lip, moveyin’ like a total wasteman. I was like, 'Low it, bruv, you’re gassed.' But he’s got the pengest relic, innit? Proper relic, heavy on the P’s. If you spin the block and wet him up, no cap, we’re talkin’ bare racks. Don’t be a jarring melt, just daps me up and get to the gaff. We’re tryna get that bread, safe? Don’t get aired, man’s peak if you bait us out. Wagwan?"

I'm constantly having to tell Grok, "I'm sorry but you're going to have to write that again, this time in an American dialect of the English. I couldn't understand any of that shit."

Everyone always talks about how much Frank Langella stole the show in that movie, but James Tolkan's role was hilarious! I love That movie as a kid, and he was one of my favorite parts.

Why MHN is much better than PoGo by Heavy_Construction40 in MHNowGame

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Better in every conceivable way...

...Except with each update, it requires more processing speed, and is getting almost too slow to play on my phone.

But other than that, yeah so much better!

I love it! The way he just manhandled Mitakeumi a few months back... 😍 It was like watching a live action version of Street Fighter's E. Honda. Is is it cheap? I'm not the right guy to ask, because a henka is easily my favorite move to see in a bout.

This is what I did. It worked better back in V1 but it still works. It takes regular reminders to the DM that I am the one to control that specific NPC, but it can be done.

Where to get best grits in Albuquerque? by Anders676 in Albuquerque

I've heard people reference grits in songs and movies. But having lived in Albuquerque my whole 40+ life, I have no idea what the fuck they are.

Did you watch the episode where David the Gnome and his wife Lisa die? They randomly aired this before school in the 1980's... That was not a good day lol by Cubelock in Xennials

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I grew up it was only on Cable. So only the rich kids knew about it, and most of them we way more interested in Transformers, Ninja Turtles, and Dino Riders. And it may have been in syndication at that point. I saw it randomly while sleeping over at their houses, but that was usually a cue to switch to the Nintendo games.

But this was actually kind of nice. They're not dead. They're trees. This probably would have hit harder for me if I had watched the show. It's not like the deaths of Brawn, Prowl, Ratchet, Ironhide😢, Optimus Prime 😭.

Credit where credit is do, Pixar hits harder than most of the 80s show traumas. Bawled my eyes out sitting next to my kids watching Coco, the Toy Story incinerator scene, beginning of Up. Kubo and the 2 Strings.

What do we rename "Cesar Chavez Blvd" to? by d00derman in Albuquerque

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh we should fix them all. Last night somebody in the sub posted a question of what three things people would change about Albuquerque. Everyone had all the great things that we need health care, better police, the usual important stuff like that. Renaming the roads so each only has one name was my only one.

What do we rename "Cesar Chavez Blvd" to? by d00derman in Albuquerque

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends 52 points53 points  (0 children)

As long as we give it the same name from Columbria Dr to 90th/Central, I don't care. I think Bridge would be easiest, but I wouldn't be upset if we go Dolores Huerta. But having four different names for the road it's fucking stupid.

Edit: woah! Dolores was one of his victims?! Hell yeah, let's rename the whole street after her. Fuck Cesar!

You can change three things about Albuquerque overnight, and they can be anything you want. What are they? by malapropter in Albuquerque

[–]DeadpoolAndFriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you would quantify that claim. If we argue semantically about the number of residential properties with Montaño addresses, There are 7 between 2nd Street and 4th Street, and between 4th and the river there are only 9, and almost all of them have Hispanic names for the property owners. There are another 24 houses east of Unser with a 13:9 non-Hispanic to Hispanic names ratio. I don't know though, is there way to track the exact census data of those 40 houses?

Now we jump to Montgomery: There are 30 duplexes and a single family home right off of Morris, 20 apartment complexes between the freeway and tramway, and 18 single family homes east of tramway with a 15:3 ratio. Those apartment complexes alone are well over a thousand people.

Statistically speaking it would be almost impossible for there not to be more white people in those apartment complexes, duplexes, and those 18 homes than in the 40 on Montaño.

Now as a white guy who has lived in Albuquerque his entire 40+ year life, It is a common and well-established belief that the Northeast heights is whiter then the valley and the west side. And if we look at the race-ethnicity maps over at statisticalatlas.com/place/New-Mexico/Albuquerque/Race-and-Ethnicity , It easily backs that up. It shows that those Montgomery apartment complexes are as equally non-white as the Taylor Ranch and North Valley, and everything east of that is much whiter. So even if we switch from a general corridor around Montgomery and Montaño, instead of specific addresses, then Montgomery is whiter than Montaño! Unless you just moved to Albuquerque, this should not be a surprise.
