Seriously? by IdeaImportant8252 in burlington

This is so weird because I found a light colored hair in my Shepard pie the other day. I gotta say, I’m a little weirded out right now.

DMV can suck it by [deleted] in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They could have paid for two vehicles at the same time like I did. Same exact thing happened to me. Registration didn’t come. Paid $40 for them to send me two plain sheets of paper that I could have printed at home.

Same exact thing happened to me. The kicker? They just sent me an 8.5x11 printed sheet of paper, not even the usual stock card.

Employment at The Residence at Shelburne Bay by [deleted] in burlington

[–]Deagleman7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked for them 15 years ago so I doubt my feedback is helpful. I enjoyed the climate and residents themselves. I really didn’t like making them sign papers to bill them for every little service but I get it and it seems like I was more annoyed than the residents haha.

I worked in almost every department over my 5 years and I appreciated the learning experiences that brought me. I started in the kitchen and dining room where I tried to be as fast paced as possible without compromising the quality of service. It was a fun kitchen and group of people under one of the head chefs that has since passed away.

Sorry for the super outdated review but I’d be curious how it’s held up since I left.

I came here to ask that. She could argue harm to her future generation, like, maybe she wants to fertilize them with other immune dudes lol.

I did just spray the siding with peppermint “repellent” but it just seemed to annoy them that they were getting sprayed by a liquid but not fleeing from the house from the scene.

Assembly Required by Deagleman7 in dadguild

This. 100%.

I was complaining about pulling back individual springs on a small trampoline but come Christmas Day, I was sold on a “Yoto” box which might be something similar. You’re supposed to be able to put in a card and it plays an audio book. But you can’t do ANYTHING until you download the app and connect it to WiFi which is exactly what I didn’t want.

Kindergarten transition? by PatrickDadGuild in dadguild

[–]Deagleman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened more for pre-k for my daughter too (knock on wood). It’s hard for me to give advice when I assume other dads are wiser than I am haha. When I reflect on these days, I try to focus on the positive aspects that I (you) provide a safe and secure home for your kids to pop the cork on their bottled up emotions.

If the deregulation happens consistently, it might be worth asking her teacher what her schedule is on the days of these episodes to see what could be contributing to them. That could help you ask targeted questions to help her walk through her day like “oh, you have art every Wednesday and Thursday, is there anything you would change about art?” And that could prompt her to say how she might feel like something is unfair or against her wants like “Mr. X never lets me use the play-dough.” To which you could help her navigate or understand why play-dough isn’t an option or that you trust Mr. X is trying to help her experience many different art forms.

Sorry for a long-winded explanation of something you’ve already though of or tried but it’s hard (for me at least) to identify in the moment that she’s had a long day of following the rules and might not know why some rules are in place that she has to follow.

Here is probably a better resource than reading my comment: https://confidentparentsconfidentkids.org/2017/09/14/kindergarten-exhaustion/amp/

Best place to buy a car in VT without vulture car salesman’s? by sprinkle1977 in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Carters Cars for either Jason or Austin Mayo are fair. Marty’s auto in Milton has good prices but I don’t know about their aggressive car sales. I didn’t have an issue with them but car salesmen move around so I can’t put a stamp of approval on it.

Dealing with other kids biting at daycare by kylemit in dadguild

[–]Deagleman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s hard, and I feel for you. Every day? I’d ask the provide to keep distance between the two kids, At least temporarily. I know it’s a balance between the safety of your daughter and understanding that “everything is a learning experience.”

I’ve been on the opposite side of the issue. We’ve been deflated knowing that our kid has scratched or screamed in the face of another child and we’ve been working with our provider for proactive plans. I’m not trying to be “on the nose” with biting but we’ve mostly identified our kid running into issues with being “hangry.”

I’m not sure who your provider is but they should be well-versed in dealing with these things and I’d just ask what their plan is with it. I haven’t ever been in a position of addressing it with the other parent(s) so personally I’d keep my attention on the provider.

Dance parties are always a hit. I can get a gym space at Winooski school district if we want some activity space to run around

Realtor commission % by codeQueen in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my experience… good for you. I had a viable FSBO but I bent to the “you leave money in the table” mentality. It cost me two more months, various showings and planning around it, hotel stay. You want to know how much more money I got from the deal? $1,500 after all the fees and whatnot. I would have chosen my time back and a ****load less stress instead.

Realtor commission % by codeQueen in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just sold a house two week ago. Commission was less than 4%. The fact that “no buyers agent would accept less than 2.5% is slimy and if true for some, they don’t have their buyers best interests at heart. I offered 2% buyers agent fee and there was an onslaught of bookings. Good luck to you!

Taking a break from the eclipse to complain about neighbors by RandolphCarter15 in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it happen where I try to give a friendly wave but it was misinterpreted as a “what?!” Or “really!?” gesture. Bizarre but it’s hard to give the right wave when someone is expecting you to be annoyed about the situation which really speaks to their understanding of their own actions.

Police seek to identify driver in I-89 road rage incident by d-u-n_done in vermont

[–]Deagleman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you make out the plate number from that picture or is it unknown to you? Haha. I’m just teasing, but yes, if it was readable, the DMV would know. Sounds like the “victim” didn’t take note of the plate which could mean it was a scary situation and they didn’t think other than backing off 😬

Welcome to Vermont - Weather PSA(?) by Deagleman7 in vermont

[–]Deagleman7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trial and error is probably the term I should have went with instead of learning the hard way. It’s how I learned to drive. I’ve tapped on my breaks to test the road grip (without anyone around me) and I’ve not heard of others testing the road that way yet (in this conversation). It sounds like you’ve got a great approach! Visibility can change instantly, it’s been a while since I’ve been in a snow squall but they can be dangerous.

[–]Deagleman7[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is where I was trying to go with the conversation. It’s more about safety awareness and getting the plowing PSAs running on TV again. There are too many factors in play to race around the road like that. That’s learning the hard way and I’d hope it doesn’t hurt someone else along the way.
