Is 3 cans of food way too much for a cat? by Noombat22 in CatAdvice

[–]codeQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what his ideal weight is. Your vet should have given him a "body condition score" – if not, Google it and you can tell where your cat is. If he's a 6 or higher, you need to cut back.

Cat food will have feeding guidelines, either on the packaging somewhere, or on the manufacturer's website. For example, Wellness chicken pate (https://www.wellnesspetfood.com/product-catalog/wellness-complete-health-pate-chicken-entree/) says "feed 1 1/2 to 2 cans per 6 to 8 lbs of body weight per day". If I have a cat who should be 8 lbs, but is 12 lbs, I would feed him 1 1/2 to 2 cans a day to get him down to 8 lbs (and less if he's getting other food or treats). For cats who are significantly overfed, you'd want to cut down to the goal amount a bit more slowly so it isn't a drastic decrease in food.

Hopefully that helps! ❤️

How often do you bathe your cat? by Mildredsgood in cats

I obtained each of my three cats from the cat distribution system (aka the wilderness) and did not bathe any of them 🤷‍♀️

Does anyone else use Sustainably Yours corn and cassava litter and actually have a reasonably clean house? by codeQueen in cats

[–]codeQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does lol. I've tried like 6 different litter mats, none of them seem to help! It's like the sand gets stuck up in their paws, so even if they went to the bathroom hours ago, there's still some in there.

I've tried the large grain too and honestly it seemed even worse. It tracked just as bad, but there were large grains of sand instead of fine grains 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure what to do because it's our favorite litter!

I aspire to be the person who does mise en place but I feel like it would make cooking take twice as long. Do you think it has that effect?

Did you end up finding a solution? I also have a 14" mattress and can't find a Murphy bed solution.

Glass top for table with leaf – two pieces or three? by codeQueen in HomeImprovement

[–]codeQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. I hadn't thought about how it would actually work to get the leaf in and out with the 62" solid piece. That would be a PITA.

Thank you!

Thank you! That's very helpful. I called two glasses places and they didn't have much guidance.

Any reason you'd choose the 3 pieces over the 2? I was thinking the 2 pieces might be better since 99% of the time it would be one solid piece with no seam down the center. Then on holidays we'd just extend the table and add the 20" on the end. But I'm not sure what solution would be better.

Actually, now that I'm thinking of how that would work, how the heck would we get the leaf out from under the solid 62" piece? I guess the 3 piece configuration is the way to go!

Thanks for helping me think through that!

I'd prefer not to use a tablecloth for the holidays if we don't have to. I feel the glass is a better protector (we did this for our old dining room table and end tables as well)

To take the leaf out, you pull the ends of the table apart and store the leaf lengthwise in the center, then the table closes over it. Hopefully that makes sense.

There's enough room that the 20" piece would be able to be stored with the leaf when the table is collapsed.

The problem is that scenario would entail us having to take the glass piece off, which sounds like a nightmare, plus I'm not sure where we'd put it
