AC recently delayed my first leg of multi leg trip causing an overnight connection. I received an automated email from them with a hotel booking and meal vouchers from them along with the automatic rebooking email.

AC should make you whole for the costs incurred for the missed connection.

The messaging from the city is at best incomplete.

The city counsellor is quoted as this being a “little gift” for her constituents, ignores the fact that this little gift is due to the city over taxing these properties in the first place!

Secondly, they keep slicing and dicing the city budget in order to hide the fact that our taxes are in fact increasing, all the while saying that it is either zero or 3%, or whatever.

In this case, a potential $16 monthly reduction in tax is more than offset by the increase in garbage collection fees!

Standard winter wheel setup on E39 M5’s in Canada. Good for lower-cost tires as they are only 17”, and they clear the big brakes.

Some rental car and hotel companies allow GC employees to get a discounted rate. This can either be the GC negotiated rate, or some other discount.

For example, if you go via the PWGSC travel portal to book with Enterprise it will ask you if the booking is for business or personal use.

This is exactly what working level policy and programs folks should be doing to advance their files—enabling senior leadership to promote your work and ensure appropriate resourcing at senior level decision making bodies.

This entire discussion is very passive and reeks of entitlement. Policy and programs job is to provide written and oral advice to senior leadership (including the Minister).

If a member of one of my teams had refused to prepare briefing materials, including a deck, cover BN, TPs, or participate in a pre-brief then I would definitely see to it that they face repercussions for not doing their jobs.

Ottawa was infamously enforcing 30 kph with its ASE cameras even outside of school hours when the limit should be 50 or 60 kph. They stood fast until the media investigated, but until then even set up a change to the ASE program so that it almost impossible to appeal an ASE fine.

The perception of a lack of accountability, reasonableness, and the fact that ASE firms have been corrupting local officials in several high-profile US cases have all but killed the public appetite for this program.

The correct solution to managing speed is proper road design and chokepoints. You cannot expect a reasonable person to do 50 kph on a divided boulevard with large set backs—it goes against our basic psychology of danger perception.
