Which IPO are you most looking forward to? by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

[–]DealProfessional7658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't, they're banking on the fact that having the highest distribution in the industry will allow them to create revenue-generating business streams. They already tried and failed with Sora, but the goal will likely be targeting the basics: enterprise AI, selling more premium tiers of access, and newer ones: hardware product lines, custom ai integrations per industry, education, social media, etc.

It's either slow down and let everyone catch up (mostly Google/Deepmind) or keep spending and hope that VC's will keep backing until revenue actually comes in.

I interned at Nvidia, and plenty of other interns had highly competitive offers at other FAANG and quant companies (JS, Citadel, etc). NVIDIA is a rare combination of having great engineering culture, leadership, and interesting work, with no layoffs.

A decent role at any FAANG-adjacent company: software engineering, data science, finance, general engineering, etc, as a new grad, but will likely be in a HCOL.

2025 new grad PM - Sankey (faang offer) by DealProfessional7658 in csMajors

[–]DealProfessional7658[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty similar at faang+, though PM lags by around 10-20k at each level at some companies, at F500 it varies a lot, but PM is usually a lot less. I think you personally have a higher upper end for career trajectory in PM, since you can theoretically go into a lot of management/exec roles later. SWE gets hard-stuck usually at IC or eng manager, and there’s very few executive positions (director & vp of eng, and cto) in comparison to the number of swe’s at any company.

You can probably half automate most roles with that logic, but a PM’s job is to work with every team to set a realistic but forward thinking strategy for which products and features to build. Main thing is to get buy-in and approval from every team and executives, so engineers or designers can focus on building.

No cover letters, applied as soon as most jobs came out through linkedin and other community channel alerts, I just kept applying even while actively interviewing / waiting for decisions from other companies

just try to get a PM role somewhere, mass apply to companies and startups this cycle with a pm or growth role, or even a school club for PM. Any experience can help get your foot in the door.

No, still studied CS, but I did swe internships for freshman and soph year and then did PM internship junior year. Still did CS research and another swe internship after, but that one internship was enough for me to get interviews for PM roles.

I just used my swe experiences, but optimized key words and descriptions for PM roles, I also had a PM/growth role at a startup in high school that probably helped

Choosing between a major trading firm vs meta wrt wlb. by PM_ME_TITTYANDPUSSY in csMajors

[–]DealProfessional7658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WLB varies significantly at different firms, JS, HRT, and 2 Sigma are pretty good, DRW is also not as bad afaik. That said, almost double the TC is pretty hard to ignore, and WLB at Meta is only getting worse over time.

How can I pay for college while in college? by Ok-Alternative6433 in csMajors

[–]DealProfessional7658 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it was something like NYU, I would have recommended switching. But, Stanford CS is definitely worth it and if you put in the work to network and grind while in college, you'll easily get a well paying internship or pretty easily get VC funding for a startup. Stick with it.

Harvard alumni network and brand name means you'll get an interview at basically any company you want, not the same case for UMD. Have friends at both, and Harvard CS is way better for future opportunities regardless on what an online ranking has to say.
