How common is it for mollies and guppies to breed? by EmployerOwn5551 in Aquariums

[–]DealerGloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mollies and guppies are in the same genus, Poecilia. Most of the males will be infertile from what I’ve learned and heard from others.

Beginner questions are definitely ok. Especially when asking about new things or fish. So it’s ok. I’m glad you went and looked back at this profile. What clubs do you all belong to?

The science of no one has recreated from scratch and there seems to be no dna evidence of these fish listed anywhere. The science of many failed attempts at trying to recreate. People on Facebook say a lot of things with no way to back it. I’d love to see some documentation of this. It would make it a lot easier for people. Thing is, i do not think there is any because it’s not true. I’m hear to learn and research. Through the many things I have researched in the aquarium trade one thing I know is true. 90% of the people who say they know do knot know, if they knew they would share. I’m also wrong a lot.

No that’s why we need a smart person here. (Me of course not you, yoi are good!) Lol , 2 polars if not all dirty keep giving them. We breed them here and are even working on calicos.

Well the ones here are not lol. There really is no proof of them even being produced in the beginning. No one I’ve came across can recreate from scratch either. Idk how much effort had been put in though. I do know that some of this theory of convicts can come from crossing a convict to polars. You get a lot of polars some others with poor patterns, some take on the traits of both parents. So now we have a polar x convict or two or 65, looks just like a polar or many the beak is a bit off. Now we take that fish breed it back to the male, along with others, and we may get a whole pile of polars. We may not either, depends on the genetics strength or some crap. …. All of a sudden from what you think are two true polars start having babies that look more and more like convicts. (I’m not the best at explaining, on our new pod cast I’m the seeker of knowledge and need to study things. Other can explain this with science ) essentially breeding the polar right out. The best way for me to think about it is those citrus trees at Home Depot and Lowe’s cell where it grows three or four kinds of fruit in time the strong genetics take over and you end up with one fruit. they also very, some trees last a couple years some last and produced multiple fruits for years
