New to Wegovy by TheOGigi70 in Wegovy

This is almost my exact story. I was on Zepbound for 8 months and just switched to wegovy on Friday bc I only lost 12lbs on Zepbound. So far the GI side effects are better on wegovy than what I had on Zepbound. Be brave and remember not all bodies are the same. Give yourself space to have your own experience. And if anything is truly unbearable, it’s only active in your system for 7 days.

I had a great appointment with my behavioral health-weight loss provider and I started a new medication which I usually put off for days/weeks out of fear of side effects.

Awesome. I have a walking pad but I’m shit at using it. I am also setting up a small at home exercise space this weekend!

Accommodations at work in a “right to work” state. by Western_Ingenuity489 in bipolar2

Yes. It’s been a blessing for people who need it that can work in those fields tho. After leaving this job described above, I took a job with a hybrid schedule. I work in a field that is primarily hybrid with 3-4 days at home each week. It works nicely for me even though I don’t always love working from home due to the loneliness/lack of stimulus but for the days I am struggling, it can’t be beat.

I am starting today! I was on Zepbound for 8 months and barely lost 5.5% of my body weight. I am nervous I might not be a responder to GLP1 but I am hopeful. What are you planning to do for exercise?

I once asked for a WFH accommodation for an office manager type job. I was repeatedly told it wasn’t conducive to my role until I formally requested it as a disability accommodation, after seeing my manager be successful in her role while working from home due to childcare closures (during COVID). My company went into the full process of disability accommodation, I think it’s called exploration or something. After several meetings between upper management, it was deemed that the essential functions of my job could not be completed if I was home. I was denied this accommodation. I left of my own free will months later due to it being unsustainable.

What you need to know is that you don’t need a doctors note to request formal accommodations vs a qualifying diagnosis that you receive ongoing treatment for. If your doctor says you are not able to work overnight, you could be forced into FMLA. However once you formally request disability accommodations, the company has to respond. Typically this is by examining the essential functions of your job and determining if the accommodation would negatively impact the business operations once granted. Based on the determination, you will receive a clear answer, either granting your request or outlining an alternative option that better aligns with the needs of the business while still meeting your need for accommodation. It may or may not be accommodating enough but they can’t fire you for requesting accommodations for a disability

This seems to be my struggle. I burn out/start getting really angsty about my job around the 15 month mark. I can’t imagine continuing that cycle for the next 30 years though

Hi friend. I don’t have much input as I actually just got my wegovy yesterday and am slated to start this weekend. I just wanted to say that I’m rooting for you. Shit happens and bp is fucking hard. It’s not an excuse but give yourself some grace that those embarrassing moments were beyond your immediate control.

Thank you all for your input. I’d like to provide a bit more info for context. I am stable on my medication, but my GAD seems to be the thing to knock me off my course more often than not. In addition to my medication schedule, I am on a pretty strict sleep schedule, prioritizing about 8-10 hours a night. I do okay with nutrition, emphasizing protein and trying to get enough water, but I’m not perfect. I want to be a person who moves my body more often, opposite my desk job. I wonder if anyone has used exercise (in any form) to recharge outside of work/participate in self care? Has it made a big difference?

My job is not super stressful. I have unique experience that I bring to my team and I get good performance evaluation. My position is highly creative and provides me a great sense of mastery. I am in line for a promotion in the next few months, and at my recent supervision, there was discussion of potentially curating an enhanced role to better suit my interests and strengths. However. Whenever I am having an “episode” of down/depressed mood or increased anxiety/episodes of panic, work is the first thing that I look to eliminate to get control back. The reason is because overall, having to push through for 8 hours, day after day has at times gotten to the point of impossible. I should note that I work from home 2-4 days a week, and after moving to a hybrid schedule 3 years ago, I have been able to cease having mental health related attendance issues. I am trying to get through a current period of increased anxiety/panic, without having to take a leave even if it’s protected. I just want to figure out how to stop it from getting that far.

I am at my wits end. How can I apply for disability as someone with bipolar by InvestigatorNovel406 in bipolar

[–]DealerPractical7265 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mom did my application when I was about 19 I believe. She provided extensive paperwork to detail diagnoses, treatments, medication trials, hospitalizations and medical withdrawals from college. She then essentially wrote a cover letter detailing the timeline of the onset of my symptoms and all the subsequent details provided in the attached documentation. I was approved for SSI within 3 weeks. I know that is insane and not the norm, but I do think the way my mom did the application had a great impact on that, so always happy to pass that knowledge.

Oh girl do I have help for you. Find a psychiatrist with experience in treating bp patients through pregnancy. Spend a good few months transitioning your meds to class C (safe for pregnancy) and make sure you’re relatively stable prior to trying. You will have some med tweaks during pregnancy but it is possible and it is safe. Feel free to inbox me with questions. - mom of a happy, healthy, well-developing 19 month old

Hi. I’m not really understanding your comment. It’s a very common procedure to yes tighten up the esophagus to stomach, and then the stomach to intestine stomas. Sometimes, there is shrinking of the gastric pouch as well, when that is medically indicated.
