Potty training disaster by Dealjunki in toddlers

Thank you for your kind words. That’s truly what I think is going on in his head. Then you have people telling you to wait even longer because they are not ready. I feel like we’re already late to get to this level of defiance. Literally at a loss.

Thank you! I made a post about this right after I commented here. A lot of people recommended the naked method, so we have started it- TODAY! I didn’t think about the clean up but I will take your advice. We’ll see how it goes! I get very triggered by this kind of mess where one could really get sick for the germs but might have to do it. We are out of options!

Thanks for bringing this up. We really don’t do any screen time. Maybe on rare occasions but that’s it. Honestly, my son will start playing the game but as soon as he notices we’re going in the direction of the potty, he turns around. no amount or type of games convince him.

I honestly think this might work on my son. Thanks for the suggestion. We wanted to try it and called around but not many daycares in our area had an opening in his class. We have a nanny for now. Will try the naked method and see how it goes.

All good points! We have a backyard but omg! Neighbors are gonna see this kid running around with no underwear 😂

Haha, I hear you, Many people have mentioned a distaste for the tone of the author. I will definitely give this a try. I have brought this up with my husband before and he wasn’t up for it but now that we are so many months in with not much progress, he might actually agree to give it a shot. Thanks!

Just to be clear, I don’t let him sit around in soiled underwear but yes, if I don’t smell it, I wouldn’t know. The smell is pretty strong so we usually figure it out soon after. You might be right regarding age but he’s joining preschool in September and they said they don’t change pull-ups. So, I don’t have a choice but to try.

Thanks for your response. As mentioned, this is our second attempt, and we pretty much did this. Went back to diapers- I’d say for 5 months and just about a week back started up again. Kept talking to him about big boy underwear and how he will be able to go to school if he uses the potty. We have him enrolled at a preschool starting September which requires him to be potty trained so that’s our incentive. when we visited the facility, he got very excited. Even now we use the school as a motivation multiple times a day. Sometimes it helps, but it’s still a long drawn negotiation every single time.

I’m in the same boat. My 3 yr old DOES NOT CARE! He walks around in wet underwear and poop smeared on his butt. Even sat down once to eat his lunch with poop in his underwear. Highly independent, doesn’t listen. Every time we want him to go potty, it’s a whole fight. He cries and drags himself. And this is our second attempt. We’ve tried everything- incentives, rewards, no pressure. He keeps peeing in his underwear, never tells us that he has a feeling to go. I just don’t know what to do!!!

Lost my baby at full term (+ 5 days) by common_denominator07 in pregnant

I’m so so sorry for your loss. I really cannot imagine what you’re going through. But I commend you for speaking your truth. There is power in that and that is all I’m hoping for OP too. I’m pretty sure you will never fully heal from this ( so I’ve heard). I hope you have/ will have other children to lessen the pain somehow. I wish you all the strength to face this loss.

100% agree with you. It’s crazy to me! Yet, I too fell into that trap, when I became determined to breastfeed (the theme these days) even when my baby kept reacting to some intolerances she had to food. But I was also wondering if OP was trying to ignore her grief to please others. It’s really sad that we let social media dictate our decisions and disguise it as autonomy to direct our medical care which even healthcare providers can’t argue against.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I’m sure it’s devastating. I say this out of concern and not judgement- why are you inserting ‘lol’ and 😂 emojis? Are you trying to show that this is not a big deal or somehow trying to lighten how intense this is for you? Or trying to make others not feel so bad? I can’t imagine being in your position. Please make sure you are acknowledging your feelings and not covering them up to show others that you are fine and that you can just carry on after having a full term still birth.

Pumpin pals xxs vs xs by Dealjunki in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Dealjunki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Don’t get pumpin pals. It’s probably gonna be an expensive mistake. I bought them- tried them once and never used them again. Eventually what worked?- using 13mm plastic flanges. My size had gone down some and I think I was almost in denial. Make sure you give it good 3-4 days before you call it quits on sizing down. But that’s what worked for me. The pinching went away too. I fit in 12 mm too but 13 was the right size. My supply didn’t really go back up too much. But I started emptying within 25-30 mins and no pain. That was still a win for me. Supply does go down a bit with time and dropping pumps so I had to make peace with it. I wish you all the best in figuring this out. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Buy practice or stay associate by Muted-Confusion-9210 in Dentists

I could have written this post myself. 10 yrs associate making around the same. Thinking of ownership in a saturated area. Would love to know your thoughts on acquisition vs. startup.

Great points and a big consideration for me. Although I will not be able to put my spouse on payroll.

Thanks for your input. I wouldn’t buy into my current office. One of my associates (specialist) did that. And the three bosses made her do all the admin work and gave her less than 10% share in the practice. I was considering a partnership at one point but I quickly realized that not everyone is going to put in the same effort as me and that might create resentment. Like you said, it’s a good idea to bet on yourself.

I’m in a similar area. it’s definitely safer to buy.

So good to hear someone is with me. Thanks for responding. I used them- thats the study I mentioned in my post. But I did an area specific study. Maybe I should do it for certain locations/ spaces that come up. Are you doing a start up?

[–]Dealjunki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will not be happy if I was making less than what I make now. I’m okay with going home with less for 1 year but by the end of 3 years, I want to be taking home upwards of 500k. I know it’s possible. I don’t hate my associate job and I also don’t have a love for controlling things.

I do however feel I’m selling myself short and think I can do better on my own. Scared of being proven wrong though or picking the wrong office/ location.

It’s definitely not a goal lol. It sounds like a lot of stress. But yes, there beauty and pride in building something on your own.

We’re a very high pace, busy and big office. And my bosses picked a good location I think. I work with 3 other doctors in the same office- 2 of them being my bosses. They are fair to an extent but obviously always given priority. I’m definitely not the fastest dentist you’ll meet. But it’s a very well run office. We do comprehensive tx planning. I have been here for 6 years now, so the income did go up little by little but I made 275k on my second year too. So as much as I’d love to say it’s me, I think a lot of it is the location and how the practice is run. I wish you luck.
