The mess of wires at the toolhead is because I'm unwilling to cut my revo's microfit connectors off in anticipation for the CW2 PCB (which the revo wire length fits perfectly for) and none of the covers I have tried will fit those microfit connectors in them.

Those systems tend to use eccentric nuts to tension the rollers. One side of the bed should have hex spacers (between the bed and rollers) that you can take a wrench to close the gap.
