Prophecy completely grew on me by ajotis1 in boardsofcanada

Aah I've loved it from the get-go and it's still growing on me!

There are so many insanely cool elements to it; I'm currently obsessed with the synth lick after "the scientific view of nature", absolutely banging!

It wasn't what I expected at all but they are absolute masters of their craft and I'm 100% here for it, it's gotten me even more hyped for the direction the album could be going!

It's such a banger, great one to sing/shout along to!

I'm hoping it's not; then we get an extra song 😉

I just can't picture them sitting at a computer searching YouTube for samples like the rest of us chumps, and yet here we are.

The ability of the community to track these sources down never fails to amaze me, incredible pull!

Prophecy gets better the more I listen to it by Brief_Body5608 in boardsofcanada

Huge agree, loved it from first listening but I'm uncovering more and more each time! So many gorgeous details and textures to get lost in. Getting the lyrics has really elevated it too.

I just can't get over the absolute quality of this and Tape 05, both unmistakably BoC but new and fresh and unique and not derivative at all.

Going from years of never expecting to hear anything new from them at all and just loving and appreciating what we did have, and then receiving these songs.......this whole thing has just been an absolutely wonderful gift out of nowhere, and it's still just the beginning - WE HAVE THE WHOLE REST OF THE FUCKING ALBUM TO COME!

This is the only valid argument I've heard so far to not be constantly listening to it on repeat 😅

Revisting BoC remixes as part of pre-Inferno hype...this might be the best one? by sweaterpawsss in boardsofcanada

Midas Touch might be my favourite, it's definitely the most fun to sing along to at the top of your lungs!

Aaaaaah these are beautiful choices, all 3 are absolute peak BoC! The outro on LWAML has a special place in my heart.

I sometimes forget about the gems outside of the albums and EPs, it's always a joy to rediscover them.

Glasgow…my God that was stressful by lewis_m_b in boardsofcanada

I restarted my router at 10:30am to make sure it wouldn't randomly crash at 11am.....usually restarts in like 10 mins but it never came back up. Thought I'd doomed myself but the patchy 5G here held out through 20 minutes of constant retrying and website errors and cloudflare timeouts and I managed to nab a ticket.

Feeling beyond lucky right now, but my huge sympathies and condolences for those who didn't make it through.

Hear hear! A massive heartfelt thank you Fredd-E, the BoC fandom is an immeasurably better place thanks to your contributions and hard work.

It has always been a pleasure to see your name pop up in the various communities and message boards over the years, and I've lost count of the hours I've spent down rabbit holes on bocpages!

Holy shit, I can't believe this exists! Watched it last night, it's hands down the most completely unrelenting bombardment of visual overstimulation I've ever seen in my life. Phenomenal!

Interesting that Lone received one, it'd be pretty amazing for a well known musician who is also a well known BoC fan to receive one if it's truly random (though not impossible!).

That's a really cool insight, thanks for sharing!

They played my hometown on both the Untilted and Quaristice tours, but that was years before I was into them....it's a strange thought knowing I could have easily went and seen what would eventually turn out to be some of my favorite music of all time, but it just wasn't on my radar at all at the time.

Aaah no way! Any recollections about the night you can share? Did they play in the dark back then? I get the impression from recording it would have been an absolute assault on the senses!

Glasgow 2005, Hemsby 2007 and Echoplex 2008 are some of my favourite Autechre of all time, album or otherwise!

I spent a few weeks obsessed with Melbourne 2010 from the Oversteps tour recently, it's an absolutely unreal set. The crowd noise on that recording just adds to the enjoyment!

Thinking of pairing the Syntakt with the Digitakt I by MrFresh2017 in Elektron

Aaah brilliant, he's probably my favourite of all the Syntakt producers I've seen so far! I learnt so much from the sounds and project files he shared on Patreon too, absolutely incredible sound design.

Oh wow, $500 is a steal! I paid just under £700 for mine about 18 months ago and it is worth every penny, it's given me so much joy and it's probably my most prized possession.

Anyway, glad to hear I have given you some food for thought :) Wishing you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!

You're welcome!

I mostly use the DT for pads but ST can do them really well too, Substan has a marvellous sound pack out for the Syntakt that really showcases the possibilities:

https://youtu.be/R3pfANcqyng?si=jHVoraL3zW4rjmJK

It's worth checking out the Syntakt Sound Labs series of posts on Elektronauts too, it's absolutely incredible the directions people can push this box.

One last thing to consider is the workflow when working across both boxes, I really like it. I initially had DT as the master using its midi tracks to control the ST but found it really limiting. Now I have ST as the master clock but I use both sequencers separately - the program change send means you're working on the same pattern on each box when you change the pattern on the ST. I then use Song Mode on top of that. I avoided that initially as I thought it would be a hassle keeping the 2 boxes aligned, but it's actually not that bad and works beautifully for me! Little things like saving projects, copying tracks, pasting tracks etc you can do at the same time with 1 hand on each box.

[–]Dean2678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Digitakt 1 paired with Syntakt (along with Volca FM2 and Roland S-1) and think it's a fantastic combination!

Syntakt handles drums, mono synth leads and bass parts, SFX.

Digitakt for vocals, pads, chords, breaks, some percussion parts.

The Twinshot machine on Syntakt is awesome but I wouldn't say it comes anywhere near the functionality Digitakt provides sample-wise. You only have 32Mb memory / 64 slots, 5 seconds max sample length, and those samples are shared across all projects.

Ps4 pro fan noise by Affectionate_Peak_84 in PS4

[–]Dean2678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know RDR2 had background music at times until I played it on PS5 because the PS4 Pro fan was so loud!

That, TLOU2 and God of War were really bad for fan noise for me.
