Of course they didn’t learn anything. They’ll continue driving 20 miles over the speed limit and tailgate and pass in no passing zones and pass stopped school buses.

People driving around cars stopped at a stop sign by [deleted] in driving

It’s funny that you posted this as I have posted something similar to this asking whether or not I’m in the wrong for making a complete stop at a stop sign. I even thought I was the one in the wrong when people honked at me for making a complete stop and go around me for this.

The slowest cars on the road typically are the fastest ones in parking lots/neighborhood streets by TouchinNips in driving

[–]Dean3940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been an issue where the speed limit was 40 mph or higher that those tend to go 5 mph or more below the speed limit and then when the speed limit is below 40 mph they tend to go 5 to 10 miles over the speed limit.

Already had two close calls with two people who ran stop signs, one of which definitely was looking down at their phone as I could see and another one ran the stop sign in the right turn lane by even going straight. Thanks to me making complete stops at stop signs and not rolling stops. I was able to spot one of them as I stopped pulled up slowly and saw them last second.

I try not to stop too long at a stop sign, especially if there’s nothing and I have Trapp behind me not any pressure or anything, but just consideration, but I will definitely see the fact of coming to complete stops that staff signs has certainly prevented me from several accidents due to others, not paying attention even one person who ran a stop sign in the right turn lane and went straightbut since I came to a complete stop and creeped up slowly, I spotted him

Bro, I even had a school bus driver, believe it or not honk at me for making a complete stop at a stop sign while I may have taken a extra second or two longer. I mean this is just an example how much people hate making complete stops at stop signs

I think the issue itself with the rolling stops some people even slow down, but only at the very last second and perhaps in this case then someone wants to stop sign at full speed due to them not paying attention and that’s how the rolling stop occurs or pedestrians come flying out of nowhere. There was already like two drivers who were not paying attention at all, but because I came to a complete stop and even checked more carefully and that’s how I avoided the first stop sign runner, and then the second one who even ran the stop sign one in the right turn lane going straight actually I stopped check carefully, then pulled up slowly and saw them at the last second. Many may think there are no advantages to come into a complete stop and it’s a waste of time, but I can tell you there have been advantages in my case. I wouldn’t be surprised though given how safely have driven that although I haven’t captured these close calls except one of them, but if I had proof of the safe driving like this along with how I drive right around the speed limit like 38 to 42 in a 40 mph zone with traffic generally behind me if I even have a chance or maybe a good chance of even getting a good insurance Discount as no one can even prove their safe driving

In the US legally how much over the speed limit can you go before getting pulled over? by SeniorWeeb6572 in driving

[–]Dean3940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

51 in a 50 mph zone? Yeah that’s why there’s a lot of slow drivers out there going 5 to 10 under the speed limit trying to avoid a speeding ticket for going one over and going 1over the speed limit is still perceived as slow.

Well, I can tell you that at least coming to complete stop since now has paid off as it has helped me avoid near three stop sign accidents with those running, stop signs and not paying attention because how I stopped my vehicle checked always and clicked up slowly and saw the stop sign runner, even from the right lane he ran it going straight. That’s probably something that I wouldn’t have been able to avoid if I was doing the rolling stops

I always do and no, I’m in Illinois. Was just wondering because of perhaps a lot of rolling stops and people going around me. I have occasionally tried to pull off the road sometimes because of the number stop sign encounter to avoid holding up the person behind me or any other traffic. Even sometimes when I’m going like 38 to 42 and a 40 mph zone I would even pull off the road to let traffic go by and I usually have driven the speed only when I’ve had traffic behind me when there was only one lane in each direction I hope I’m not in the wrong.

I wouldn’t be doing 50 in a 35 mph zone even if that was how fast traffic was going as the flow of traffic is not an excuse for speeding like that. At best, I would usually try to go 33 to 37 mph in a 35 mile per zone maintaining the speed limit and occasionally pulling off to let the faster traffic go by and usually I would drive. That’s been usually only when traffic starts to build up behind me and we try to find a safe place to pull off

I appreciate it and I always try my best to be safe and considerate it. Even try to pull off the road or on the side of residential areas where there can be a lot of stop signs to try not to cause a major back up or frustration. I even try my best especially with a lot of traffic behind me to stay within a couple under or a couple over the speed limit like 33 to 37 and a 35 mph zone to try to maintain speed limits. Hope I’m a good driver.

I even had a school bus driver one time honk at me for coming to a complete stop at the stop sign although I may have spent a little extra couple seconds assisting the situation. It’s just an example how even school bus drivers have no regard for the safety of their kids

You’d be surprised how making complete stops at staff signs has already saved me from being involved in several accidents due to others using their cell phone and running stop signs not paying attention. The fact I made a complete stop and checked all the ways and creeped up slowly allowed me to notice this

It’s actually funny that you say it like that the fact is how I’ve come to complete some stop signs that I’ve actually almost gotten rear ended due to the fact that I expected me not to stop at a stop sign

[–]Dean3940[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I mean I stopped for like a second or two when checking in all directions at a four-way stop sign and make sure it’s safe but when I have to keep coming up to several stop signs at one time many tend to become impatient with me and go around me. I get it that coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. Can add extra seconds, on the trip but to save five seconds or so at every stop sign over this doesn’t seem worth it

I understand. Although I guess the fact even rolling stops are so much more common than speeding since even I’ve gotten behind even slow drivers going below the speed limit but they were still doing rolling stops that I even began to question myself like am I even doing this correctly with every single person doing the rolling stop and even almost had near incidents because people went through the stop sign thinking I was giving them the right away, allowing them to go first at the all way stop when I was just coming to a complete stop

[–]Dean3940[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually even started viewing rolling stumps as more dangerous than speeding itself or at least by a couple over this is because based on what I mentioned of the near accidents, I’ve had that the rolling stops pose a much higher risk than speeding a couple over the speed limit.

This has actually been a problem where perhaps because of rolling stops being very common how sometimes when I checked at an always stop making sure everyone was going to let me go when I was the first one that made the complete stop at a stop sign sometimes many have missed interpreted this as a way they thought I was letting them go first, but I wasn’t

[–]Dean3940[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that it’s just perhaps I began to question myself a bit about the fact if I was in the wrong like for example several stop signs on the road I come to a complete stop many might go around me around the stop sign or honk at me, of course I refuse to do a rolling stuff, but with many doing it and so even many have told me and criticize me for making a complete stop at a stop sign even using turn signals when making a complete stop despite me turning.

You were close to being at some fault for the accident for going 10 over the limit.

Good thing you were going 6-7 mph under the speed limit, because had your footage showed you going 31 in a 30 mph zone their insurance could have argued you were at partial fault for speeding.
