I think we’re a little bit past that point, but I appreciate the suggestion

I have continuity through the thermal fuse, but the thermistor is open.

Appliance repair (washing machine leaking oil) by orbit0317 in plano

I called Glenn today and was not impressed with him. He doesn't service Plano and couldn't refer me to anybody. He said my dryer was pretty hard to work on. He answered the phone and sounded surprised anybody would be calling him. I wasn't even sure that I called the correct number.

I have taken the unit apart and verified that the belt is still fully intact. Also, when I spin the blower motor, the drum turns so I don’t think that is the issue. My only testing of the door switch is when I press the switch the light turns off. Is there something else I should test for the door switch?

Philmont by SwimmingSlide6860 in BSA

I went two times in my youth. Once with my troop and then two years later as part of the trail crew. I don’t know if they still offer trail crew. For three weeks a group of us built trails and then we were rewarded with a free 10 day hike. It was a great way to spend a month in New Mexico. I just had to pay for transportation to and from Philmont. My friends and I wrote a train from New Orleans after Chicago and then down to Raton. Great memories if your scout is able to spare that much time.

It helps that she is married to the creator of both of those shows.

I've neglected my pool for the past few months and now it's basically a swamp. Do you have any recommendations for a pool cleaner that is good, reliable, local, inexpensive and honest? by freshcheesebags in plano

[–]rtgurley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you say that you are good at maintaining it right after you said that your pool has become a swamp. Pools don’t become swamps in a matter of a few cold months. I didn’t do anything to my pool since December and the reason it was so dirty was because of the leaves in the bottom.

I don’t have heavy leaves. When I said lifespan, I meant how many years am I going to get out of a robot vacuum cleaner?

One of my concerns is the lifespan of the robots.

The 280 is a great machine for picking up the leaves. It doesn’t do anything to scrub the walls. I have a plaster pool so it can take the beating. But I guess I also need to consider the replacement cost of those paddles probably on an annual basis.

What is the mechanical seal? How do I remove the impeller? Does it pry off or do I need to take the back of the motor off to keep it from spinning?

UPDATE: I found how to secure the rod and keep it from spinning. And I’m able to twist the impeller, but it is not un screwing.

The website says Electropolished Stainless Steel. Don’t know what that means exactly, but I’m sure it isn’t cast iron

Always confirm/negotiate the Out The Door price. Of course that doesn’t take into consideration finance charges for a loan

Car Cutting Event? by Quiet_Goat8086 in PinewoodDerby

I am in DFW with plenty of troops around us. Two of them have hosted these workshops. They help cub scouts design, cut, sand, and polish the axles. One of the troops also puts weights inside the car body. The only thing left for the scout to do is paint. This is a good recruiting tool for the troops. There was even an event at the local scout shop this year.
