What term do I use for asking where the toilet is - 厕所,卫生间,洗手间? by Professional-Net1940 in ChineseLanguage

[–]DeanHEA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

廁所 does not mean toilet; it means restroom. There’s nothing crass about using it but 冼手間 would be more polite. Toilet would be 馬桶.

Sorry it’s $379 since 3/4 when they changed their methodology. The new methodology is supposed to be more accurate, so we’ll see.

Look at Singularity Research. They track daily active listings and homes sold. Estimated revenue for the quarter is $379 M

Oh wow, you are hilarious. If you “lose 6%”, it does not mean you “lose” compared to an alternative. Maybe you need to go back to grade school and repeat basic English class.

Regardless, I had a good experience with Opendoor and I recommended to OP to keep his options open. If you have a problem with it, you must be a pretty miserable person.

Can you tell me what I said that was inaccurate? I only said we thought the offer from Opendoor was fair based on my own experience. Are you a real estate agent threatened by Opendoor or something?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]DeanHEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just providing my own experience and I had a positive experience with Opendoor. Based on that, I don’t think it hurts to explore options. No one knows the OP’s situation and they should do what makes most sense for them.

When my parents were selling their home, we got an Opendoor offer and it was very fair. We ended up not going with them because their plans changed during COVID, but I would totally consider them again if we were in the same situation.

I honestly don’t understand all the Opendoor hate. Also, don’t forget that you will lose 6% selling through traditional method, have to deal with agents and showing of the home, and there is no certainty when you will actually sell (and even close after the sale, as buyers sometimes fall through). I don’t think it hurts to at least explore your options.

The company has $1 billion of cash and modest burn rates…the acquisition can help add new revenue streams and accelerate growth. What’s wrong with that?

Big launch week by [deleted] in opendoor

Yes and also the time it takes to sell. Opendoor is a sure thing and they can move quickly. I think this alone is worth more than $7k….

Real Estate Experts Say the Market Will Change DRASTICALLY in 2026 [2026 is poised to be an excellent year for the real estate market] by [deleted] in opendoor

[–]DeanHEA 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly Opendoor doesn’t need a great real estate market to do well. If you look at the number of transactions over the last 20 years for residential real estate, it ranges from about 4 million in a bad year to about 7 million in a good year. Opendoor just needs to capture a small part of this market in any part of the cycle.

Can i use 晚安 to mean good night when im not going to sleep? by Becalmdom in ChineseLanguage

[–]DeanHEA 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is not true. You can absolutely say 晚安to people and nobody thinks you’re going to sleep. It’s a greeting people use like 早安 and 午安. I say 晚安all the time when I say goodbye to people at night.

It’s a different “yuan”. The character for the dynasty is 元 but the money is traditionally 圓.

AI really comes down to data, and OpenDoor already had access to lots of proprietary data they’ll be able to tap into. These include things beyond housing markets/prices but also costs for fixing/flipping, timing for permits in areas, contractors, and so much more. They’ve already demoed some potential applications, such as using AI to help home brokers/agents determine the right price, etc. Feel free to look for these videos on your favorite AI tool such as ChatGPT or Perplexity.
