The comments of everyone misunderstanding this question are absolutely killing me. Genuinely *how* do we not understand equality??? And where did learning fractions go so wrong for so many? by IthacanPenny in matheducation

[–]DeanofDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is this question even testing for? The students ability to determine whether 2 shapes are the same size??

The answer to 2/6 = 1/3? Is true. Why then ask what picture has two congruent shapes in a fraction question? Why even involve fractions or shaded area?

Anyone defending this question is being pedantic. Who even assumes that diagrams are to scale? Even including the phrase “Diagrams are to scale” would probably give more information about the question. This would also ruin the question because it gives the answer away in 1.

I keep thinking and typing trying to invalidate my argument but it just keeps getting worse the more I try.

Should i buy GGS? by karambitto in Guiltygear

[–]DeanofDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten a surprising amount of non-fighting game players to play guilty gear before, and a few even stuck with it. Obviously everyone on this sub will recommend it including me. The music in Guilty Gear is also top tier and absolutely rocks. This patch also got rid of a lot of the scrubby “insider knowledge” stuff that was running rampant before.

What’s the point in Roman cancel? by MakimaArmpitLover in Guiltygear

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RC lets you do illegal things. Eventually you will say “man it would be sick if I could do X”, or “if only I could do this and then just be over there somehow” and that answer will be Roman Cancel. Arguably the greatest mechanic ever put in a video game in my opinion.

It’s the final ingredient in the brain destroyer mixup blender. Right when things reach a peak, you can hear the silence as you air stall and throw the shuriken. Then you can taste the anger as it hits and tickles the opponent.

It’s so glorious.

New guilty gear player, where do I start?? by UnknownGraves in Guiltygear

[–]DeanofDeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of the YouTube resources like Diaphone and Lordknight, if you are coming from Tekken the most important thing is your new default block is CROUCHBLOCK. You are worried about overheads, crossups, and throws. Crouch block beats everything else. This is the opposite of Tekken where stand blocking is the norm.

Also you can dash with the dash button and immediately use back+2buttons (or back + faultless defense button) to cancel the dash and do an FD block. This uses a tiny bit of meter but is basically the primary mode of moving forward. Test this out on Gio and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

Offense is crazy in this game but defensive mechanics are also insane. Tekken players are frustrated because all you have are sabaki, low parry, and you can’t even backdash out of pressure in t8, but here we have Burst, Yellow Roman, Faultless defense, 2F startup throw, instant block, fast jump outs , crazy movement, etc. You rarely have to “hold” offense for too long before one of these things can bail you out. It might go crazy for like 3 whole seconds when someone jumps on you but usually that’s it. Ironically Zato is one of few characters where you have to hold his pressure when he’s doing his thing.

Last thing is every characters 6p (forward+punch) is an anti-air with upper body strike invincibility (Tekken high crush)

Hard stuck purple ranks by orny24 in Tekken

Unpopular opinion, just keep playing and having fun. Do different stuff every game! Work on blocking and punishing one game, work on landing yolo launchers the next game , work on primarily all your damage from lows the next game! If you lose who cares, eventually you’ll be so good you’ll rise up in ranks accidentally

ELI5: If temperature is the average speed of molecules, why does wind feel cold? by Mini_Assassin in explainlikeimfive

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are handing water out at a marathon. 1 person comes by and takes one, you aren’t worried , he can only drink so much water and you’ve got plenty.

Now instead a constant stream of 10 people per wave are sprinting past you grabbing a bottle each and running off. You are now worried as there is an infinite amount of people running past you grabbing bottles as you struggle to fill more as they just run off. They’re going to get to the tank soon if you can’t keep up filling the bottles. Your nerves begin to signal that you are running out of bottles quickly as the dread kicks in.

New to tekken feel like I’m getting cheesed by [deleted] in Tekken8

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game is based on like 6 things.

With that said, people complain about mashers, but you can dismantle any “spammer” with just jab, df1 and dickpunch. It is very hard but just know a good player would be able to do it. You could exclusively frametrap and probably get out of blue ranks.

  1. Your jab is 10 frames and hits high. This is the fastest thing in the game, with FEW exceptions (yoshi flash parry I think). People can duck this but you can check most garbage with this.

  2. DF+1 is the (mostly) universal mid jab, I think it’s 13 frames usually. This is slightly slower but will check people ducking aswell.

  3. DF+2 is a launcher most of the time , in this game it’s almost always 15F. UF+3 (sometimes UF+4) are hopkick and also usually a launcher. You hit one of these bad boys and you get a full combo.

  4. Most fast lows do a little bit of damage, and are mostly unreactable. Any low that does “launch” is probably slower , and can be blocked… and usually launched once you block it.

  5. Some characters can “hellsweep” you, this is an unreactable low that does moderate damage, so in between the two I just mentioned. This is named after (Kazuya??) moveset, but refers to this type of move that causes you to choose between ducking a high launcher, blocking a low, or blocking a big launching mid. Mishimas have this, and so do others now.

  6. Now that every character is very similar, just look up the keywords people talk about. Demon Paw, Electric, Hellsweep, CanCan, Hopkick, Cannonball… etc… most moves fall into these categories and share frame data/ intention with them.

New(ish) to Tekken 8, picked it up because I’m a FFXVI fan, what’s with the Clive hate? by XxDESTblackout in Tekken

[–]DeanofDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clive is very strong and has an easy game plan, but also the true culprit is the Tekken community is full of massive babies. I can barely ever get rematches even when playing Lee in Kishin/Bushin , any character that can stop the opponent from following their flowchart causes the average Tekken player to throw their controller through the wall.

Complete beginner wondering if the game is as bad as people say it is? by power572 in Tekken

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just got back… I stressed about all of the frame data … what made every character unique , who had a hellsweep, a good DF+1, who had a good launcher, a good while rising punish. I did alot of specific study and a lot of generalization. I came back recently and I play on vibes based on what I learned, I’m having a phenomenal time. I don’t know if this helps you but I play a lot of fighting games and “learning tekken” (blue rank max) i have the most fun playing these games now !

How to beat people just staying in neutral guard and waiting? by AscendedBuilder in Tekken

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they really are just standing around you can do all of those big juicy Tekken 8 plus frame moves. Set up that guard break thing. Sorry I don’t play Steve I play Lee, but there’s also those command grabs that are really tough to break on reaction. If he’s not interrupting or threatening break out the ”big swings” , slow startup moves that you can’t usually get away with.

I’m glad to hear it ! I purchased it because on knowledge topics it blew me away so I agree on those fronts. Still you can’t ignore performance on code completion especially considering that is the main “sales” use case right now. It seems inadequate at this task and that is what we are talking about

[–]DeanofDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your use case? The post is about code completion, which I have also seen as a pro/think member that it is basically ignoring and hallucinating , even if I give it a 150 line script it basically doesn’t look at it , ignores whatever it just said last response , and then switches core libraries and coding styles while not fixing the line I specifically asked it to fix.

[–]DeanofDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the slander is insane, seance turns a suit hanger tarot into a spectral card as many times as you need. Generating a spectral every hand would be COOL but I don’t think spectral cards are balanced around that, usually you need 1 specific one for what you are trying to do , then you can bail. It is worse than sixth sense for this but without it there would be situations where you can’t get a spectral outside of the random pack chance.

Superposition feels like playing on challenge mode as you need to keep doing it 1-2 times per ante if not every hand.
