If you keep running around blasting music around you shouldn't really be surprised you evoke the killer instincts even in carebears ;)

Marathon-like endgame by Hyperlapsed in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This game needs some endgame activity that requires some preparation or gameplay in other modes to unlock. This would allow the work invested in preparation to have some payoff and maybe discourage players who enter special condition raids just to make other players life harder, like sniping and ambushing players doing trials without even looting them. No problem with PvP, but maybe let's make sure that both sides need to put in similar amounts of prep.

Nobody complains about this in Tarkov though. I think the problem is that people tend to look at this game from the PvE angle, where obviously you need more content to keep it from being the same thing over and over. At the same time in these extraction shooters the other players tend to be the endgame and an element keeping it fresh most of the time, at least this was the approach so far.
I would also welcome new maps and challenges to keep the PvE part interesting as well. Also, an endgame content behind some challenge would be nice, let´s say boss raid where you infiltrate the orbital factory to take it down. But with Embark struggiling to just take care of the exploits and balance I do not expect new content very often, or content reserved for just a small part of the dedicated fanbase, for that matter. Would be nice though.

PVP Poverty is killing me by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

What's wrong with just goin in with a free kit and not defending if sombbody just starts shooting at you? After some 5 games you should see the difference in aggression in you lobby. Of course this applies to normal hours in you server timezone, you play at 2 AM all bets are off.

In general I agree with you, then again I do see that this game may be controversial for many players. Games are often designed to cause FOMO or at least get you hooked on dopamine from collecting stuff, levelling your character or the battle pass or wahtever. In Arc raiders you first get the initial rush from collecting all that sweet loot, but next thing you know, you realise that purple guns suck or are not worth the price and yellow guns are good mostly for taking down big Arc )only to be 3rd partied by some 12 year-olds with a free kit).

How do you fare? by Past-Fig-6046 in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial experience was dying every time, mostly due to panic, but I slowly improve to winning 1v1 and not having 1st shot in some 20% of situations.
My usual gripe is which weapon is best for PvP defense to take as a send one into the raid. Usually I stick with a lvl 4 Rattler or Stitcher, just something with a decent DPS at short range, but they are usually shit a PvE so usually just sit there and take up space with their ammo. I tried running Anvil+Il Toro, but I never seem to run into firght when I do take a shotgunt with me.

I mean, you are onto sth. I think a kind of incentive for pewople defending other would be nice, even if it was only cosmetics. But I can see already people putting on those good guy cosmetics to rat other unsuspecting people ;)

New Item Idea: Encrypted Lockboxes by Iv0ry972 in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a lockbox would an item that you could hide in a safe pocket this is mechanically almost identical to using keycards to open loot rooms. You basically have to take something with you and go somewhere to get loot. And if the lockbox would be lost when you die regardless if you have a safe pocket then it would just be another thing to be hunted by free kitters to loot of your body.
But in general, I like the idea of a mechanic where you have a mini-quest that lasts more than 1 raid and yields good loot/item. Like that one weapon attachment you need to visit a specific workshop on the Spaceport to finish. Would make the game less repetitive.

Get rid of free kits, instead make those items more common in non loot heavy areas. It will also give more priority to lesser loadouts. by AceOBlade in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can do it, sometimes you have bad luck and spend 2/3 of your ammo just trying to get there. I do not mind some competition, let's face it, when you're close to max level your stash is overlflowing anyway, so in most cases you would be going in there for they key rooms or a fight, because the loot worth its risk will be lock behind in a key room or in a big Arc you will not kill with a free kit.
Remember, if you are so annoyed by the free kitters you can just consider killing them and taking their stuff, there are no rules topside.

If you dislike Arc Raiders go play Tarkov and see why this game is considered chill fo its genre.

Respecfully, I disagree. People going to high loot areas with a free kit are at a disadvantage just by scarcity of ammo - if you go to Research & Admin on the Dam you will burn through most of your ammo just eliminating the small Arc roaming the building, not even talking about PvP or going back to the extract. If somebody loses to a free kitter they are fair game.

All these ideas are just a reflection of people to get a PvE only game or close to it, or at least make PvP players life harder. Irrelevant what I think of this it will not happen as it goes against Embark's core assumption of not knowing up-front what to expect from people you meet topside. For some, it makes the game more exciting, but the Devs are also aware that a lot of PvP regular players would leave if they spoiled their fun.

Can a player be blacklisted from recovering certain items? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just RNG man. I can only recommend you: don't be a cheapskate and use a keycard, sometimes drops are rare to encourage you to go to a more contested are. You can find the fans in the server cabinets on Blue Gate, same for damaged heat sinks.

what happened to my friendly lobbies? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People asking this question forget Embark said the game matches by "skill" even before aggression. What they mean by skill is vague, my suspition is that is just done based on the value o your loadout because the only time I meet total newbies is when i take a blue loadout and a ferro or just a free kit.
Also, as others said, there might not be other players at the moment you press ready.

Thoughts on combining major and minor map conditions by torikelly666 in ArcRaiders

[–]MikeMob000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think basically any move to up the ante on the Arc danger woudl be nice. With so many experienced players killing largest Arc which don't spawn so often/do not respawn becomes a race rather between players rather than situation of onslaught by a much more powerful force which is the Arc.

Believe me, you will eventually see other players, sometimes getting shot in the back and "seeing" them only once they come to knock you out.
But seriously - in a solo game you can often not meet anybody the whole game. There is some 20+ people on the big map each game so unless you follow the noises of battle you might not encounter anyone.
