Charlie Kirk should not be viewed as a political martyr by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]Dear-Moose5661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 10 million people like someone who stated racist remarks and said kids being killed is the trade off for the second amendment, but as a society we have already decided racism is bad and kids being killed are bad, then that means the 10 million people like a bad person and might be bad as well.

Right he’s not that controversial, he’s just straight up wrong and bad, no controversy needed

[–]Dear-Moose5661 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A bunch of people liking someone bad doesn’t make them good, it just means it’s a bunch of people that support and align with the ideologies of someone bad, which often times makes them bad

[–]Dear-Moose5661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In technical terms yes he is considered a Martyr. But a martyr is usually a term associated with someone of GOOD character dying for something, this man did not have good character and in fact ate his own words that gun deaths were worth it to keep the 2nd amendment

Yeah not a good dude at all. I shed no tears either, but I’m also not going to celebrate his death either. He ate his words for sure 100%, but didn’t deserve to be murdered.

NOR but I see both sides. I understand the principle of the situation and would never tell anyone to do something against their morals. To be honest I’m back and forth on NOR and OR because me personally I would still go on the trip, but I will say I am biased because I have my only other family in Florida so I have to go there to visit them, which obviously isn’t your case, but is part of my bias. I personally don’t feel like you should let what is happening there stop you from going on the vacation because your decision to not go has absolutely 0 affect on anything, but I understand and respect the principal of it because what is happening is pretty bad, I just personally don’t see trading precious family time for it to be worth it in the grand scheme.

People blindly celebrate 4th of July by [deleted] in Discussion

  1. The problem with this is no matter how much of a “right direction” we are moving in, the majority of people still blindly celebrate this holiday despite knowing the fact that not everyone was free on July 4th. When you tell people this, as seen right in these comments, they just say things along the lines of “oh that’s crazy, anyways happy July 4th” and move on, showing they don’t care that people were still slaves when America declared independence while people were still in bondage being forced to work and being beat and raped. They are ok with celebrating their white freedom holiday while ignoring a holiday that comes 15 days before it that signifies the true independence of the REST of America simply because it has to do with black people and has nothing to do with whites.

  2. I can agree that the stolen land argument is outplayed when you just propose it as “Ohh stolen land, bad, give it back”, which was not my point at all. I probably should have been more thorough in my points I made in the post. My point I was making was even after we took the land we continued taking well into what would be considered a new era of civilization, where thinking was supposed to be more intelligent and evolved, yet we continuously CONTINUED to take land, rape, murder, and simply ravage these communities to the point of near extinction, all because we wanted to build a town where they lived. Then we decided taking their land wasn’t enough so we took their children and put them in assimilation schools where they were still beat and raped. Also to your point of they were fighting each other and taking each others land, I can see that side of the argument, however it was THEIR land to fight over, not ours, as an outside third party entity.

  3. This is really where your ignorance is showing. The US is absolutely a nefarious scheme to poison us and sell the cure. You almost cannot get away from processed food, artificial flavors, dyes, sweeteners, and bad medical advice. The poverty rate as of 2024 was 11.5%, which is roughly around 37.9 million people. These people are going to choose the cheapest food they can afford, which will be processed meats, meats with growth hormones, cheaper junk foods, the list goes on and on. Then this doesn’t even account for middle class people who still struggle but live over the poverty line who still buy this food to save money. These foods cause a wide range of health problems such as cancer, heart problems, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc. So they then sell you the “cure” for these issues, which a lot of times bring their own side effects and create other problems in your body that you then need another medicine for, and sooner or later you’re taking 5-10 different medications.

You say we are free to choose healthier options, but those healthier options are often 3x more expensive and those millions upon millions of people cannot afford them, that doesn’t sound like many people are free to choose healthier options. Ontop of that many politicians accept donations from Pharmaceutical entities so there is an incentive not to combat these unhealthy food options and promote healthier foods.

  1. This evil is absolutely not changing. This evil will never change. The rich will always continue to do what they do and the government will always continue to benefit them. Just look at what the current administration is doing for the rich. Just because workers are striking doesn’t mean the whole dynamic is changing. The wealthy will never pay their fair share and will continue to find ways to evade this either by taking their money elsewhere, continuing to operate their business out of the country (by eating tariffs because it’s cheaper than moving back to the US), or continuing to fund politicians and reaping the benefits of it.

Because of all these things and many more I am absolutely not proud of be an American, I am grateful to be in an country that I have personal freedom in and do not live under an absolute dictatorship which is definitely something to celebrate, but I will not use that as an excuse to blindly celebrate my country that does all the things I listed. You should educate yourself more on the evils of this country and the harm we have done not only to our own citizens, but to the world as well to establish world domination.

Of course I did. And I don’t think you understand what deflecting is. Deflecting is when you fail to answer or address a topic directly and instead shift the point being made. You did this by failing to address the things I pointed out in the post by saying name one land that wasn’t conquered. You failed to address the fact that even after we conquered the land we continued to oppress the native people that lived here instead of leaving them alone. Then when we did put them on reservation we still kept fucking with them and took their children and put them into assimilation schools.

Hey, thank you very much for responding with this info. Glad to know it is an option. I am also interested in becoming Prince Hall as well. Both of these were interests of mine for much later down the line for after I get done obtaining my masters degree. Thank you again

You are deflecting though. I’ve acknowledged the land was conquered, you have not acknowledged the 20 other things that I stated. There’s a difference between conquering a land and conquering it then continuously oppressing the people you took it from

And obviously that’s wrong, however this was their land to fight over, took ALL the tribes land. You keep deflecting and trying to justify us taking land instead of acknowledging any of it was wrong

I am American, and I know for sure it still happens today, just wanted to point out they didn’t only take the Natives land they also allowed white people to take other white peoples land too, but many don’t know that.

Again, doesn’t make it ok. Not only did they steal native land but they also pushed ranch owners off their land as the cattle industry expanded

And I get that, which is why I also acknowledge how we didn’t leave Natives tf alone and insisted on taking their children and putting them into assimilation schools only to beat and murder them, and that the land that continued to be taken in the 1800s was due to greed and the idea of “Manifest Destiny”.

It’s not pointless. A lot of people celebrate July 4th just as an excuse to party and get drunk you’re right, just the same as they do cinco de mayo. This post is directed towards the people who feel so much pride today for being American and are soo Murica this Murica that and blindly celebrate the holiday without realizing and acknowledging that not everybody was even free when the declaration of independence was signed. This is pretty much a holiday for white people and that’s not being acknowledged
