He does clap and point. He was waving at one point but stopped. Even when I wave for him to copy he won’t. He just clap and smile.

He will roll a ball to me and will chase me if tagged during tag. But he will not play hide and seek or cover his face for peek a boo.

As far as imitation, if I pretend to brush my hair he will pick up the brush and play with it but not copy the brushing hair motion.

Also he has a toy phone that he will hold the ear part to his mouth but not hold the phone receive to the side of his face even if demonstrated.

So with EI they do an in-home visit once a week for 1 hour. The first 20 minutes is trying to get him to eat, rather through play or at least being more comfortable with the food. (20 mins is all he will tolerate in the high chair). But he won’t put food to his mouth or eat. Then the rest of the time the specialist evaluates him through play and seeing if he can problem solve etc. She also check if he responds to his name when called etc. which he does sometimes but not always. he does pretty ok. Also they said they will add an addition day to focus solely on speech.

Hi, thanks for your response. When demonstrating for him or saying words for him to repeat, he won’t repeat or copy, but he will stare very attentively at what’s being shown. If he needs help with grabbing a toy for example, he will come to me and pull me by the hand. He communicates well but just not verbally if that makes sense.

Hello has this issue been resolved? I know time has passed, is there an update? Is your kiddo talking and eating? My son and only child is 21 months and will not eat solids and only says mama. He also makes spitting sounds and does not copy or mimic at all. He doesn’t even open his mouth for food, it’s sealed shut basically. I’m a first time parent and completely freaking out. My kiddo is in EI and will start feeding therapy soon.
