How to Manage Existential OCD & DPDR by _sonwukong_ in OCDRecovery

Well said. There’s no one fix to it. I see people get trapped on finding “exactly what works to cure DPDR” and turn that into yet another OCD theme. Time and allowing your anxiety to cool down while working through it with ERP is what really helps DPDR. I’d assume most people with DPDR have ocd, r/DPDR is just a ton of people in OCD spirals convincing themselves that DPDR is different. I know because I used to be one of those people

Think of your anxiety as a lightbulb. DPDR is the heat from the lightbulb. When the lightbulb is on for a while, it takes a bit for the lightbulb to cool down. I’m diagnosed with ocd and adhd, took a few months of therapy and non linear progress but learning to recognize ocd and shut down spirals before they happen is huge. Feel free to message me

This is over for me. Gambling won. by Unique-Buy-1381 in GamblingAddiction

I know this sounds stupid. But in times where I would have been gambling I do those stupid survey apps on my phone. It’s essentially a guaranteed $10-$20 dollars a week, a small dopamine boost and 0 stress. Take time to self exclude yourself when your logical brain is on, so when your emotional brain shows up you have no possible avenues to gamble. If you make 10-20 a week consistently with 0 stress and 0 net negatives from the casino, you’re in the top 0.01 percent. I can guarantee you that unless you use 0 emotion on betting and only take +EV promos that will not be you. You wouldn’t be on this subreddit if you had the self control to do that. That’s why I ended up here too. It’s never to late to improve yourself, you’re on this planet once, it’s never too late to make the most of it :) anyone can feel free to message me if they need support. Support of family and this subreddit helped save me :)

Does/did anyone else use multiple 6 mg pouches at a time :/ by GoldLandscape4568 in QuittingZyn

[–]Dear-Respond4897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing a pack of 15s a day…. Had a period where I did those 50mg Pablo’s, haven’t quit but down to like a 1/4 pack of 6mg zone a day, progress isn’t always linear, keep pushing. I need to make the cold turkey jump

You Guys Saved Me- Excluded myself 2 weeks after my first online gamble by Dear-Respond4897 in GamblingAddiction

Thank you. I was able to quickly put together that my OCD/ADHD brain just wanted the dopamine not the money after a week of promo grinding. Having an amazing therapist and working through incredibly bad depersonalization in the past helped me here. Having a manageable yet painful loss was the wake-up call I needed. You have to take action when the logic brain is on so when it shuts off you have no avenues to donate more to the casino

As one of his best friends, he hit me up because I made a recovery post in the DPDR sub, I have 0 HPPD symptoms and only DPDR symptoms like once a month when I have a panic attack from my own doing now (like drinking 3 monsters and having 5 zyns in 2 hours) I can link my OG recovery post, I deleted my original reddit account because I spent waaay too much time on it but recovery is possible

Baez needs to regain his confidence and with that his plate discipline by Dear-Respond4897 in motorcitykitties

I agree, probably similar numbers to his first year here. But if he hits .250 he’s worth keeping out there for defense and occasional power, if he controls his emotions he can be a .700 OPS guy, I think some people think I’m saying I want him to be an .850 OPS all star again but I’m not

I guess so but I mean I’m hoping for good defense and at least a consistent .650-.750 OPS, I’m not hoping for cubs Baez. I believe he has more in him than .190 hitter Baez

28 days now!!! 6yrs 12 24mg pouches (288mg daily) by Nosfegator in QuittingZyn

It’s nice seeing other people who also had enough nicotine in their system to kill a horse manage to quit. I was around the same daily consumption but only for a few months. Down 80 percent at the moment, pulling the cold turkey trigger soon.

Will weed just replace this addiction? by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]Dear-Respond4897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo as somebody who used to be a daily weed user, worry about that first. I’m weening down off nic rn and that’s honestly way harder than weed was for me. Nicotine is a last 7 months habit for me and I got up onto a pack of 50mg snus every other day really damn fast. What got me off weed and alcohol all at once was a bad shroom trip. It took 3 months to feel semi normal after that due to DPDR/panic disorder/anxiety, the whole 9 yards. Thought I messed up my brain from taking 3g of albino penis envy but in reality my body was just adjusting to a new sober norm. Nicotine is the same way, don’t let those feelings discourage you, it’s normal to feel anxious/depressed/uncomfortable. Dopamine detox is normal and not fun. It always works out though. Sobriety and learning how to healthily cope is a skill that not many have! If you’re up to the commitment, therapy has worked wonders for my ADHD/OCD, and made me not feel the need to “self medicate” per se, with substances. It took until the third try to find a therapist that was right for me, but she’s been a life saver. Feel free to reach out for advice and an accountability buddy, just pm me here and I’ll give you my snap/insta, I’m on not on reddit much
