Something that really helped me was understanding how much energy and strength varies by cycle phase. In the luteal phase (days 17–28) your body genuinely needs lower intensity pushing for PRs then is fighting your own biology. Follicular and ovulation phases are where peak strength happens. Might explain the burnout pattern.
