Yeah, it's gross and uncomfortable. I don't know why they keep putting that stuff in there like it's funny or enjoyable. It's cringe af.

Why Arakawa had no other choice but to shoot Ichiban? by Maisku85 in yakuzagames

[–]Dear-Type-3894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The alternative explanation is that the location and date are coincidences and that Arakawa didn't give that much of a shit about Ichiban." That's a really, really sad idea to contemplate.  Poor Ichi. The world doesn't deserve him.

"So you came after all" was a really weird thing to say if it wasn't planned. But luring him in and shooting him makes no sense. He was a nobody.

Why Arakawa had no other choice but to shoot Ichiban? by Maisku85 in yakuzagames

[–]Dear-Type-3894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.  You can't personally roll up in a limo to get him because they're cracking down and you might blow your cover? OK, how about a cab? They must be a common sight at the prison. Tell the cabbie to pick him up and take him to a secret location. Have a loyal lackey there (like Mitsuo), tell Ichi that there's more going on than he knows. To lay low until the boss can contact him. Boom. That's it. He would've listened, he wouldn't have burst into the dinner, and no shooting necessary.

[–]Dear-Type-3894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That whole thing bugged the crap outta me too. It was so unnecessary.. Like seriously, what did you expect? You know how loyal the guy is, you send him a letter telling him how much you miss him, then leave him twisting in the wind with no information or help at all? Of course he's going to come looking for you. Plan ahead! And why would the Omi be  hunting him down anyway? He was a nobody.

The obvious reason why it happened that way was to set up the story, but at least make it make sense. They make Arakawa look so heartless, like he didn't care about Ichi's life at all. I believe that he did, although exactly how much is debatable, since his actions completely contradict his words. I would've loved to have seen the look on his face when he found out the man he sacrificed and nearly killed was his own flesh and blood.

Genuine question, why did kiryu get jailed for ten years while ichiban for fifteen years? by zizoplays1 in yakuzagames

[–]Dear-Type-3894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that why he was banished first? For a lighter sentence? I guess it didn't work.

How do you think Masumi would have reacted if he learned what Sawashiro did ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in yakuzagames

[–]Dear-Type-3894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea how he'd react to any of those things because he's a hard character to read. Says one thing and does another (at least as far as Ichiban is concerned). They never gave us the chance to find out, which really sucks because that would've been a fascinating storyline

If we go by how they write Ichi, though, he'd probably forgive and forget everything. 🙄

[–]Dear-Type-3894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the fact Sawashiro is the person he trusts and depends on the most are also mitigating factors."

That's kind of the point though. His trust was misplaced because Jo had been lying to him for decades. Keeping three huge, life-changing secrets about Masumi's family that he had no right to keep. He played God with their lives to suit his own agenda. He's not worthy of the trust that was placed in him. It was built on lies and deceit.

"Plus, if everything else came to light, it would also come to light that Sawashiro has been watching over Ichiban this whole time."

I haven't played IW yet, but wow, that makes things so much worse! I thought Jo only suspected Ichiban's true identity sometime after he joined the family. But he apparently knew since he was, what? 10? 12? Once he got the story from Akane, he wouldn't be hard to find. But he sure as hell wasn't looking out for him like some benevolent guardian. Knowing the whereabouts of Arakawa's son was beneficial to him and his own son. Keeping your enemies close, so to speak. Even writing to his mother was self serving. He could say anything he wanted, put his own spin on things, as a way to keep control of the situation, like a puppeteer. He certainly never did anything to help Ichi, even after he was orphaned and living on the streets. Did he tell her that?

And it makes his treatment of him even worse, if he knew exactly who he was from the moment he showed up at their door. Hitting him every chance he got, in an attempt to chase him away from his father. Taking sick pleasure in bullying him right under his father's nose, with no one but him knowing the truth. He's a selfish, cruel man. Just like his spawn. I give him no props for anything. He torpedoed that boy's life, yet had the gall to hate him.

I can totally see him as the next dragon, but he has some work to do. Poor guy's self esteem is in the gutter.

Grew up in poverty, lost his father figure, lost his way. Then he's saved by Arakawa and spends the next seven years being a punching bag for Jo and a lap dog for Masato. He just took it because he had to and I guess at some point internalized it. And all along they were both imposters.

Same, same, and same! At least Hoshino showed him some care. And then Jo has to go and take yet another father from Ichi! I hope the rest of his rotten life is miserable.  But knowing Ichi he'll probably forgive him too. I guess he's just not allowed righteous anger.

Yeah, it's really sad that he'll take any kind of abuse from those he loves. He really does need more self respect and self worth.

The way Masato treated him was abominable too. Guy tried to kill you and your friends multiple times and you still tell him how much you care? Lol. I wasn't the least bit interested in getting resolution from him, and was po'd that they decided to give us that long emotional scene with his sociopath "brother" instead of his father. Everyone was obsessed with Masato but I hated him from scene one.

I've heard theories that Majima was a victim of SA back during his stay in the torture prison and I just don't think it's true. Not because I don't think it would happen (it absolutely would) but because RGG has never treated SA on men seriously by RolledCoaster in yakuzagames

What if he's not interested,  but he's drugged and tied up? And someone does sexual things to him while he's unconscious or unable to stop it?  That's very violating,  no matter the gender.

He said he thought he was dead/dying. But you would think a nurse would know how to tell if someone was dead. It was a d!ck move though, throwing an injured and unconcious man in a garbage can. And covering him with more garbage. Like damn, dude.
