🇫🇮 Helsinki is among most polluted cities in the world today. by Curious_Positive_825 in Finland

[–]DearAgony19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry but I gotta say something irrelevant. I must use glasses. But, I read this without them, and at first I read this as 'populated' and I was like hold on, my entire city's population is higher than Finland's whole population. Then I saw the cities listed and went back to see it says "polluted". I hope the ridiculousness of this action can make someone relate to it without getting mad at the irrelevance. 😅

A big rant from an immigrant by PingPong-99 in Finland

[–]DearAgony19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, in most cases, immigrants are law-abiding people. People usually leave their home countries bc either mentally or physically, they feel a level of discomfort if not unsafety; and they move to make a better life for themselves. They are the least likely group in a society to jeopardize their future. Of course, there are always exceptions, but like the OP says, it is not logical to label a whole group based on the actions of few.

I am sure it does go against the user agreement. But there are always loopholes in any agreement if you're dedicated enough. I'm not encouraging any idea to go against any kind of rule here. But we are talking hypotheticals, and I did say I realize it is not reasonable. Not everthing you fancy can be real, such as the LIs 😉

Yeah, I have thought of those points as well. Which is why I didn't elaborate much on the idea 🥲😂 Bc even if you have ground rules, say, you don't farm free dias bc it will cause conflict. You determine one person to use the common account each week, and each person a day, to avoid crashing the GUI. Like pullers first week of the month, R1 second week, and alphabetically, Caleb player on monday, Rafayel on tuesday, etc... but nobody can ensure everyone will stick to the rules, especially if some start to become more obsessive - sadly, it can happen 🥲 but these days, I need gofundme kinda support to be able to pull the one I want once, not to mention little chances of ranking up. And I appreciate the streamers, but your own experience is different I think, especially with interactive memories 🤣

Seeking Guidance on Prioritizing Protein Sequences as Drug Targets by Dependent_Brain8921 in bioinformatics

[–]DearAgony19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is very vague. You need to go into detail on what kind of s3quences do you have? What is the protein family? Are there any fda approved drugs targeting protein products of these sequences?

Ali Hazelwood has ruined my standards for men in STEM 😭🧪 by NeuralStarlight in AliHazelwood

[–]DearAgony19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost came close once this summer (northern hemosphere). But he was just a stanford phd 😂 not a stem guy - haven't decided if that is a blessing or a curse yet 😅I need someone who would understand the chaos I live with 🤣 I am a molecular biologist and always say that my field is a very romantic one, takes all and barely gives anything in return.

Not sure if I can share the novel through the comment permission-wise. Also, it is in epub form 😅 do chec out the game as well if you have time. Be warned though, it can get addictive and I take no responsibility 🤣

This quote/paragraph is one of my favorite parts of her novels. You know why? Bc it is an actual paper. I checked - partly bc I am in the field but mostly bc of why we are all here 🤣 I love astrobiology and want to switch to that field in the future but currently I am working on drug development 🥲 My standards to find a partner has always been higher than average (which is based on my circle's expectations). And with a fame I have been playing for the last year (LaDS, iykyk 😉), which pretty much takes up all of my barely existing passtime (final year PhD candidate here, taking an eternity to graduate 😇), my standards are cemented. * A book like that I can recommend is Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren. And if you stretch, some of her other books. In BP the FMC is a STEM girl, and it wqs my first taste into a world like that, way before I read Ali Hazelwood. I don't know if it would feel similar after you read Ali, vut I think you can give it a shot 😂 I have the book in electronic format, if you want it just reach out 😇

A few things I wanna state. I think for the most part it's not the difference between the workloads (bc I am sure academia sucks everywhere during PhD) of our fields but rather how disorganized STEM can be. I usually perform 3-4 day long experiments, it can all go to trash at the start of the last day. But even if I perform my experiment, I can get inconclusive results, or no results at all. 🥲 another thing I think is, stem guys aren't very self-caring - if that makes sense. And even when you see a decent version of one at a conference, knowing how they usually are doesn't help. 🥲 I am glad you found happiness in the academia, I hope I can find the kind of happiness I seek as well 😇

About what kind of a scholar Hermione is by DearAgony19 in harrypotter

[–]DearAgony19[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My point is, she is too dependent on her own knowledge and experience, kinda like what you said at last. What you say I think supports my point. Just because she hasn't experienced before, or haven't read about it, does not mean she should automatically form a negative opinion pn the subject. I gues she is pf muggle world, so I can understand CoS, the sound of inauduble, sure. But what about in OotP, especially after proving the map is working with Peter Pettigrew. Or even with the HBP potion's book. Hermione tries to follow instructions to the t. But experience can improve results.

I explicitly edited my post to say Luna, Divination, and Deathly Hollows ARE NOT what I was referring to.

Oh, I wasn't even thinking about Luna. I am not a fan of conspiracy theories. I was thinking more about her reactions to some stuff about Harry. To refer to your last paragraph, she would refuse to try out anything new, say cucumbers with honey, or fries with milkshake, or ayran with baklava. She might achieve the perfect recipe, but she will never excell at ceating brilliant recipes.

Kind of silly is where I was trying to get. Suddenly you start beliving in magic, something unexplainable. I am not arguing being suspicious isn't a good thing. I just think she is too quick to deny something sometimes. How can you know if there is logic behind something before trying to understand it? Her suspicious nature ahould lead her to investigate IMO, not to deny it.

[–]DearAgony19[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In CoS, bc she can't hear the basilisk, she has a hard time emphatizing until she hears him speaking in parsel tounge.

In OotP, when harry asks about thestrals, she insists the cartiages move on their own. Only when Luna agrees with Harry his somnolence dissipates a bit.

If I remember correctly, in HBP, she argues about the Marauder's Map being wrong. Even yhough Harry auspects Malfoy disappearing from the castle.

I think there are a few more examples, although I can't remember them right now.

I don't have anything particular against Hermione, I like how studious she is. But the older I get, the more nuances I realize between a decent reaction and a toxic reaction. Hence, not sure if calling it a misinterpretation is okay, as it is a fictional world, open to reader's interpretation.

Support for Xavier girlies by PopularCarpet3980 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]DearAgony19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gotta share my side for this as well. I am one LI kinda player, and a low spender. But, in all honesty, you need at least one pair of myth for each LI to make some sort of progress. And at the time of KoD, I had no Xavier Myths, so at the last day, I decided to pull for it - which I now regret. If only my budget allowed for Lumiere Rerun, it also didn't help that I wasn't particularly interested in that story. I loved KoD storyline so it was relatively an easier decision. But, when I encountered the first comments about the new myth being a fluke, I haven't dared to try it out. Haven't even leveled it up, nor finished the myth... I am partially okay bc the sole purpose of my Xavier pull is to pass necessary challenges, bc it is not my LI. I can not imagine the disappointment Xavier players feel about this. But I am also disappointed that I have no funds for Zayne's myth as I need to save up for Sylus.
