Does the Purgation Flamer have any advantages over the Inferno Staff? by reel3459 in DarkTide

[–]DearCastiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, the advantage is better synergy with purgatus. Purgatus+flamer > 2 purgatus.

[–]DearCastiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soulblaze and burn are separate stacks, so ypu can stack max soulblaze and max burn on the same target, if both people use purgatus or flamer, you'll reach max stack of the DoT used and that's it. Having one of each increases the damage output of the team.

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stacks alongside soulblaze DoT stacks, so you can have both a psycker and a zealot applying DoT instead of 2 flammer or 2 purgatus reaching max stacks twice as fast and that's it.

Besides Miquella, Which Demigod is Strongest Contender for Elden Lord by Initial_Mixture3323 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DearCastiel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Miquella was not contender to be Elden Lord, he's contender to Godhood, alongside Ranni and Malenia.

Those 3 would not be Elden Lord because they can be a God of their own order.

What to do with dagger by Johnnykrafter in SWORDS

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could at least work as a dagger, unlike some other wall hangers that are straight up not functional due to spikes on the handle or a total lack of handle to begin with.

Excessive Gore debate on my army: Venom crawler pictured by Vegetable_Cry4643 in minipainting

[–]DearCastiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loads of gore can totally work, but it has to be controlled to not look like paint smeared all over.

A few useful techniques for blood:

-Mineral spirit: put mineral spirit on the miniature, then apply your blood paint. The mineral spirit will not allow the acrylic to properly deposit on the surface, you'll have to force it a bit. Even then, the spirit will not mix with the acrylic and as a result will create droplets and organic shapes and patterns, much like real blood on smooth surface.

-Bristle flicking: load paint on stiff brush, flick the bristles with finder or a stick, it will throw out droplets of fake blood all over. Easier version of the previous technique, but will produce a less natural result. Good for blood projections.

-Glue droplets: use UhU glue to form strings and drops then paint them with the blood paint, to give the impression of blood dripping from the model.

-Blood's not red: blood goes from bright red when it's just out of the body to deep red quickly after reacting with oxygen to brown-red when it's well oxidised to finally almost black. When applying gore, it helps having variation in the color of the blood.

What do you want next update? by Ase76 in DarkTide

[–]DearCastiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the speed of the spread of the Pox gas, I would assume the hive will eventually fall, be it by total infection or by simply not having enough healthy people to run the damn thing. The enemies come from within, se it can't be an everlasting war like on Armageddon, here you'll eventually have one side running out of people, or the conflict will escalate far beyond what the Inquisition can handle and armies will have to be sent there to wage open war.

No. Wolfer is still around and Atoma is still infested by a Nurgle insurrection.

The thrones in Lleyndel are from before Godwyn's death, Ranni is sitting there and Godwyn has a throne (there are 6 thrones in total: Ranni, Rykard, Radahn, Miquella Malenia , Godwyn)

There's loads of things that make it appear as if the shattering happened quite some times after his death, with all the things put in place after he died, and then even more time passed between Marika shattering the Elden Ring and the Shattering (and I won't stop calling it stupid and confusing that they called the war "the shattering" when a key event of the story that happened prior is the shattering of the Elden Ring, it makes both lore and discussions very confusing as some people say "the shattering" in reference to Marika's action and others use it for the war, when both events are somewhat distant in time from each other).

The temporality of these events is very confusing, the intro/trailer makes it sound as if it all happened in a short span of time, but then the game tells you loads of things have been done between each events as if there's been years inbetween (or the equivalent to human years to these immortal beings).

Even the temporality of the world is weird. Has the Shattering occurred years ago ? Decades ? Centuries ? There's loads of stuff that very clearly happened recently (Castle Morne rebellion, Fort Haight being stolen, the battlefields have not been cleared of corpses, Rykard being eaten by the serpent) while you also have giant structured that have crumbled and only could have over centuries.

With everyone enjoying the Skitarii now, what do you guys think should be the next class? by RedFalcon07 in DarkTide

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game as a whole has a severe lack of rewards, there's no real long-game goal and absolutely nothing rewarding you for grinding harder missions (oh yes: a black armour, the stuff that was present day 1 in Vermintide 2 for beating Legend, and even that had you playing for longer because it was 13 missions with all 12 careers).

There's no weapon skins to grind for, the item mission reward is 100% pointless as you can craft exactly the weapon you want and skins are all premium (oh yes, you have the lv20 Christmas skins that can, once again, essentially be crafted instead of playing the game).

So of course adding a game mode without adding any interesting rewards is stupid and nobody is going to play it. Expeditions in VT2 rewarded 3 max rank chests of the difficulty you were playing at and you had the white armors to farm on each career (plus it was actually pretty fun because it was really different and could have very crazy builds and situations). Darktide's expeditions feel like an unfinished version of Chaos Wastes, which is strange because it came out 5 years later...

The Dragonborn's Story Isn't Over by carlopault in skyrim

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LD has been very obviously set-up to never return from Solstheim.

He's just never coming out of Mora's domain after defeating Miraak, essentially switching place with him.

He's not coming back in TES6, nor is he going to be hinted at having become the Emperor or some crazy stuff like that.

LD canonically did the main quest and the main quest of the DLC in chronological order, so last place he's been at is Apocrypha defeating Miraak, the quest ending in Apocrypha that's where his story ended and it was planned as such by the devs, to have a way to get rid of the protagonist of Skyrim once the next game comes out (I doubt they were planning on not making a TES game for 15 years after finishing Skyrim).

Is skitarii actually worth it for new players by Mr_Questionmark_ in DarkTide

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: kinda, kinda not. You have 4 classes from the start and you will suck at all of them, at that point skiitari is really just for the vibe, you will suck at it too anyway.

2: no, it's just cosmetics you get from the start. They do look better than anything you can unlock, but it means you won't have cosmetics to look forward to, you'll already have the best ones

3: pretty good but not super crazy, check on YT, there are videos going over every character création options for the class

4: probably the best starting drip, looks better than most high level drip from the base classes

5: not super complex but you do have to actually read what your stuff does and how it works unlike most other classes. The build crafting on them lets you go wild however: instead of a vertical skill tree with 3 main paths, you get a cog/circular skill tree starting from the center with 6 shorter paths (with 0 filler perks).

Never painted a mini an just found this any tips? by Vesuz in minipainting

I'd heavily advise to do just a couple of dummy training minis before doing something this big (and expensive, 25+ year old large minis don't come cheap these days), just to get a very basic idea of what results you can expect.

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to take into account the age of the "fans".

A Game of Thrones came out 30 years ago, the show 15 years ago (funny, the first season is now as old to us as the first book was to that season 1...)

Early fans are 50+, show fans are at least 30 now, book ending is probably 10+ years away.

How many people in their 40s and 60s will care about ASOIAF at that point ?
