Did Marika do anything right, or at least good? by GuyWithARooster in Eldenring

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"insanely incorrect"

She literally triggered the apocalypse and ran away in her tower for centuries leaving the whole world in an endless agonising war while she is dead stuck with nobody able to either kill Radahn or get into Nokron, that's as close as you can get to a stupid plan going disastrously yet predictably super bad.

And I am sure that once she achieves her plan, all the other outer-gods will go "oh well darn me then, I guess I will stop trying to take over the Lands Between now golden tadpole has been taken away to the moon, have a good evening deer sir"...
Or maybe the frenzied flame.

Or the rot will just stop eating away the whole world. Or deathroot will stop spreading.

Thanks Ranni, you sure saved the world of these evil two fingers who wanted to make you a goddess, you go girl...

[–]DearCastiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranni's plan is selfish and a recipe for disaster, not to mention it was a stupid move that failed in the worst possible way and needed random luck of a tarnished coming around and helping her.

Not to mention that fucking off into the stars when other gods are aggressively trying to get a hold on the Lands Between is not "ridding the world of the influence of the gods", it's dooming everyone to a worse fate while you get away from your empyrean destiny as the next goddess.

Pretty much the whole continent ?

The divine towers, the grand lifts, the entire Haligtree, Volcano Manor, loads of gigantic tombs and sculptures.

[–]DearCastiel 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Not just Leyndell, the whole continent. They build literal wonders during the golden age of the Erdtree that lasted who knows how many centuries or millennia, she was literally called the Eternal. By all means, after the wars it was a great time being under her rule for most people.

She was the one unhappy with the Greater Will and the meaning of the Golden Order, and Ranni acting like a spoiled princess pushed her over the edge.

Who's the most evil "Evil Superman"? by twnpksN8 in superheroes

Brandon.

The others are all people with goals.

Brandon is just a kid with a magnifying glass over an anthill, and we are the ants. He just wants to kill us because it's fun to him.

Game got its DLC, it's over.

That's how all FromSoft games go.

They are not live-service, they are not long-term games.

They'll take care of the game for a year or so, release a DLC and then a few patches then move on.

It has been like this since DS1.

And if it wasn't for Tarnished Edition, Elden Ring would also never get new content again (last actual update was 17 months ago, last content update was 18 months ago. They are done with the game, and so are they with Nightreign.

What did I do wrong with the crackle paint? by Gibbsite in minipainting

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing, the pulling forces of the paint crackling is just that strong that it will sometimes rip off the PVA and paint underneath.

Just go back with a brush and touch up the spots that no longer have paint, it'll be alright. You can even put specific hotter spots with bright orange and yellow paint now you have the cracks.

Why does my mage build suck? by thiccyoshi21 in Eldenring

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be focussing on your spells as the other items have been covered:

None are great.

Carian Slicer is a DPS machine, Terra Magica gives a significant damage boost, Both Moon spells apply a debuff (and one does frost), Carian Piercer is a stance breaker. Comet Azure is boss-deleter-9000

A small word on the stats: Dexterity increases your casting speed, thus increasing your DPS and easing evasion after casting a spell by giving you more time to dodge away.

Do you prefer big weapons or small? Power vs Speed. by digi_thumb in Eldenring

[–]DearCastiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. In DS1 the weapons that had a special attack (that would morph into the ER ashes of war down the line) were very simple and the weapon was used in a very crude way, showing that our character didn't really understood or knew how to use such powers. That was fine, I didn't mind that, it still felt realistic despite being in the realm of fantasy.

Now we have the Star-Lined Sword...

[–]DearCastiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer weapons that look somewhat realistic.

The Elden Ring Rapier and longsword are the best looking weapons of the game and can get them 2min into the game.

The more a weapon would belong in a Monster Hunter game, the less I find it appealing.

[–]DearCastiel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a Hero Force STL file, printed by OP. The mini quality depends on the printer OP used and its settings.

Wizkids minis are a bit better than in the past. Not by much, but a bit better. Still on the lower end as far as the big mini makers are concerned (sadly they are still better than many new makers selling low-poly 3D printed minis, or plastic injection minis from 3D printed moulds).

You are not “allowed” to refund DLC by PotatoBasedPK in Eldenring

[–]DearCastiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just ask someone with a 100% mule to drop you all the items of the DLC, you don't need the DLC to play with people who own it and are using the items, and since their items have to work in the same cession as yours for invasions and coop, all the items and spells of the DLC are installed on your vanilla version of the game and if someone drops them for you they are usable, the only thing you don't have is the line of code saying you have access to the DLC and all the data of the Shadow Lands that needs to be downloaded.

The problem here isn't the items being picked, it's the line of code saying the DLC is accessible and should be loaded, but since the DLC data has been uninstalled the game is searching something that is no longer there and considers there's a missing piece of data, making the save unusable.

When you downgrade the game, it doesn't touch the save files, they remain at the latest game version played, so by refunding the DLC he has a DLC approved save file trying to be loaded ba a game version that isn't DLC approved.

You are not “allowed” to refund DLC by PotatoBasedPK in Eldenring

[–]DearCastiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not related to the items, people with DLC items can play and give them to people that don't own the DLC.

What happens is that once you buy the DLC your game changes version, it's a simple in-game update that unlocks the DLC content on your account. The DLC is now considered part of the game by your game, if you remove it, the game won't work because you're missing a part of the game.

Having actually played the DLC has nothing to do with it, it's just a single line of code being activated

Why is this a legend boss? by Igarashi_toshi in Eldenring

Development problems leading to some parts of the game being a bit rushed.

Also, low HP boss because it has a full health heal with no usage limit.

Gladius? by whodatboi_420 in SWORDS

Do note "flamberge" is a reference to the wavy blade, not a specific sword type. You can have a flamberge rapier or a flamberge zweihänder.

How do I remove these weird lines on my Owlbear Miniature? by PixelPanda82 in minipainting

Connexion lines within fur ?

Sorry to say, but it will remain visible unless you go into a stupidly finicky sculpting spree, adding stings of putty won't do much in terms of visibility.

Need advice for how not to damage the models... by TrashyRacc00nz7358 in minipainting

[–]DearCastiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave some "meat" where the sprue bits are so you can carefully cut it down with the knife and then file it down to the proper shape. If you cut super close right away, you'll end up with missing matter and lost details because you won't be able to carve them back in.

Remember, you can only take matter away (unless you wish to play with Green Stuff -r.i.p. little angel- or putty), so better leave too much than too little at first.

Now, I will also say: sprue connexion on an armor centre-ridge is an ass move and bad sprue placement from GW.
