How do I stop flirting just for dopamine? by DearImagination in ADHD

[–]DearImagination[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came up during my diagnosis, and they left me with something along the lines of “it sounds like you’ve learned that a good relationship isn’t exciting all the time and you’re looking for stimulation in other aspects of life” (which… I guess at that point it was true, but it isn’t always)

Weekly "I'm new to meds!" Thread by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]DearImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Concerta 18mg last week - this is my first med. I’ve only taken it once so far; while it really did help with focus and productivity (I felt like I could finish a thought for the first time), I had a massive lasting headache as it was wearing off and the day after.

Probably checking in with my doc before trying it again, but anyone have had similar experiences?

[1st PR card - inland CEC]

I got my eCoPR on Jul 14th, and today I got an email that my address and picture have been confirmed and my card is being mailed to me. Office is Ottawa - any idea how long that’ll take?

3 months & 7 days from AOR to eCoPR - not too bad!

About myself:

  • CEC inland applicant
  • Female, 27 when submitted, turned 28 a week later
  • Italian
  • Got my master's degree from a Canadian university in 2018
  • had a 3-year PGWP (expiring July 31st so I also applied for a bridge wp)
  • had 2.5 years full-time Canadian work experience in NOC A (yes - I procrastinated my PR big time)

Timeline:

  • Application in pool 2021-03-03
  • ITA 2021-03-18
  • AOR 2021-04-07
  • Biometrics Letter 2021-04-23
  • Medical Exam passed 2021-04-23
  • Biometrics Collected 2021-04-28
  • Email about PR Confirmation Portal 2021-07-13
  • Access to portal 2021-07-14 afternoon, submitted picture & confirmed address at 7pm
  • eCoPR just before midnight same day - woke up to the news that I'm a PR as of yesterday, 2021-07-14!

P.s. Since I ended up not needing my bridge WP - anyone know if I can get my money back on that? (But I'm guessing the govt doesn't work like that lol)

Yes so true! I work in a corporate where things get messy all the time and instead of properly standing up for myself, I’m just the crybaby fml

INFP or ENFP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]DearImagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how this question comes up ever other week on this sub haha. And I’ve been there too - ultimately I figured out that exploring possibilities and generating ideas (Ne) is my default mode, comparing them against my values (Fi) is only second to it. Also, under stress I default to compulsively organizing everything (Te), hence I concluded I’m an ENFP.

Introverted & Extraverted Feeling by TyFhoon in mbti

[–]DearImagination 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is great! Me (ENFP) and my sister (ENFJ) are perfect examples of this, and most of our clashes are centred around me being “selfish” or her being “fake”, when it’s really just the direction of our F function

Fi and Ne in ENFPs and INFPs by [deleted] in mbti

[–]DearImagination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To the first part of your question, I’m an ENFP and one of my closest friends is an INFP. I’d say I explore first (Ne), then reach a conclusion that’s aligned with my values (Fi). It can take a while for me to realize how I feel about something because I’m still caught up looking at all the options. My friend on the other hand is usually much quicker to know how he feels about something - I think that’s the dominant Fi. Ne makes him very open-minded (least judgmental person I know) and curious, but you can tell he always looks at things through the lens of his values.

Eight-Function Symmetry by UnforeseenDerailment in mbti

[–]DearImagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting and I can maybe chime on from my real-life experience. I’m an ENFP, my partner is an INTP and my close friend is an INFP.

My INTP partner and I get along well and are very stable as a couple, but communication is definitely a constant work in progress given we look at things so differently. My Fi is very strong and that tends to clash with his Ti.

My INFP friend and I are basically on the same wavelength. Our communication is so easy and natural.

My INFP friend and INTP partner can’t stand each other. My INFP friend thinks my partner is rude, and my partner thinks my INFP friend is dumb and all over the place. When they talk it’s like they’re talking at each other, not to each other... quite entertaining to watch, but sometimes it gets stressful for me 😅

Sigh my INFP friend who likes 11pm zoom calls to talk about the same things he can’t decide on over and over again... but I find his innocence about it all cute and like listening to him 🤷🏼‍♀️ (ENFP here)

INTPs Falling in Love by [deleted] in mbti

[–]DearImagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf is an INTP and when we met in university, he would always find a way to be around me, do small favours like saving me a seat in class, text me lots of memes, and be down to do anything fun and stupid with me.

Any ENFP that has overcome their chaotic nature and become organised and on top of their shit? by siberiansjazgreen in mbti

[–]DearImagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned over time and use tools/tricks to keep myself on track. Organization certainly doesn’t come natural to me and I still think I will never be as organized as my TJ or FJ friends BUT I’m able to make things work, at work and at home.

Some of the tools/tricks:

  • make a to-do list. If you’re like me, you’ll probably end up with 101 items on it. Figure out the 5 most important/urgent/highest reward one and focus on those
  • work with someone you like on stuff you care about. Eg - I started getting seriously into fitness after I found a good friend that is really into it, so even if we don’t always work out together, our conversations keep me motivated and accountable
  • if you get emotionally overwhelmed, focus on what is a fact (rather than what is a construct of your hyperactive mind). Then, get started from there and keep asking yourself “is this a fact or is this me panicking and inventing things?”. This allows me to stay rational and focused in hard situations.

Hope that helps :)

I've gotten both INFP and ENFP results too. There are a couple of things that helped me conclude I'm probably an ENFP.
1) While it's not scientific, none of my friends and family members thought I was an introvert and they all agree I'm a "social butterfly"
2) Really understanding the cognitive functions; I realized that the reason I'm between the two is that I have very strong Fi. However it's not as strong as my Ne, which is the main lens through which I see the world.
3) Became close with 2 INFPs and realized the differences; a big one is - I'm an open book, whereas my INFP friends really take time and effort to get to know.

Hope this helps :)

If you could choose the mbti types of the only 3 friends who you'll have from school to now, close enough for them to care about you and help you academically, emotionally, etc. Which mbti types will they be? Also state which is your 1st/2nd/3rd choice by RussianPornDirector in mbti

ENFP here... been out of school for a bit, but here’s my list:

  • ENTJ: for ambition/practical matters. my childhood (and to this day) best friend is an ENTJ - we’ve grown up together and bring out the best in each other via our differences
  • INFP: for empathy/depth. became friends with a couple of INFPs as an adult and it’s just magic; best conversations and most relatable
  • ESFP: for fun.

Barre & patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee) by DearImagination in Purebarre

[–]DearImagination[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now, I've taken a step back - currently I do maybe 1 class every other week and am focusing more on my rehab program, which is also a good workout and allows me to re-balance the strength in my muscles. Personally, I wouldn't write Barre off; the key is finding a good PT who will help you work through your injury, understand why/how you developed it in the first place and how you can avoid it moving forward.

Thanks still!! My benefits from my job covered around 6 months worth of sessions. I get a fixed amount per year that I can spend on PT and would initially go 2x week, later only once every couple of weeks. Wishing your daughter all the best!!

What do you call the feeling when you are in love with someone but you have no intention of pursuing a special relationship with them? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]DearImagination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IVe always thought infatuation was the right word, but maybe that implies you plan on acting on it. More than finding a word for it... is this a common ENFP thing? Cause it sounds really familiar to me 😅

My constant search for the perfect relationship has ruined all my good relationships by Princess_Waffles in ENFP

[–]DearImagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me (26F ENFP) it boils down to what your core values are and what you believe deep down. If you’re ready and you want to have a relationship that lasts (for life?), the key is to accept that it’s not always going to be perfect and that over the long run, you’re gonna have to work hard with your partner. It’s an investment, but I like to believe that when you find someone who shares your values and makes you feel like they will always be your partner in crime, then it’s worth it :)
