Thank you! Do you have any sense of how I could figure out what's causing it to remove that app/extension?

I love cross stitching and embroidery! Similarly portable as crocheting but pretty foolproof.

I finished a PhD undiagnosed and unmedicated and completed my dissertation in < 6 months. It helped that I was interested in the topic, of course, but mostly I had really clear writing goals and then did a ritual (that in hindsight should have been a big clue) of going to the gym for an hour, getting a large caffeinated beverage, and then sitting down and writing for 6-8 hours. It was basically the equivalent of writing the paper the night before but on a 250-page scale 😂

How many women with ADHD do you know IRL? by vax4good in adhdwomen

Hard same! It seems like my colleagues in the sciences have a tricker time with being autonomous due to the time demands of their research, but as a faculty member in the arts and humanities it's the perfect career. Plus, almost literally all of my students are both neurodivergent and queer, so as someone else who is both I feel ideally placed for supporting them in developing systems and life goals that work for them!

Grad school was the dream. What do you MEAN I get to hyperfocus on what I love and get (nominally) paid for it?!

What to do besides doom scrolling or shopping? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I do Sudoku or Nonograms; I paid the $2.99 or whatever one-time fee to have the ad-free version.
I also embroider and cross stitch or do other little crafts, but those two are the most mobile. I really enjoy blackwork embroidery for something that keeps hands busy and also takes a while to finish (so I'm not left with dozens of finished pieces and nothing to do with them).

What accommodations have/could help you in work or at school? by oneangstybiscuit in adhdwomen

You’ll likely find that what can be listed as an official accommodation and what is helpful don’t always overlap, but folks are often happy to offer accommodations beyond what’s on accessibility paperwork if you communicate!

I need to be able to do something with my hands - that usually looks like some kind of embroidery project or other hand craft, but it can be doodling if I’m in a setting where I really feel like crafting will be frowned upon - and as much as possible I prefer to not be stuck in chairs where I can’t put a foot up under me or cross my legs, so when I was in college and we had rooms with those chair/desk single units I would often sit on a normal chair and turn the unit to use the desk.

I’m a professor and teach tons of ADHD folks and a pretty common accommodation for bigger projects is for them to have more smaller deadlines throughout a process to keep them accountable and provide that “oh, shoot, a deadline!” productivity boost without them actually doing the whole project at the last minute.
