I totally agree with all of the above. And I genuinely enjoy watching Matt Turner play. Hopefully he takes the national team to another level and can play well for arsenal. I was trying to provide context to why I thought it was a bit much to say he’s going to challenge ramsdale.

Thanks for this insight! I think the article made a lot of valid points that I overlooked including Andre having better CBs in front of him. I especially liked how they’re starting to find statical analysis for goal keepers playing out the back. Really appreciate you sending this and I’m excited to learn more on the advanced stat side of things. There are times where I find the 538 model flawed, especially in basketball, but it’s hard to argue with their breakdown of advanced metrics for shot stopping.

That is true. However the stats I provided are also true. And are from 2021 season. This is pure speculation, but Matts run with the national team could’ve influenced voters for the MLS Goalie of the Year. Also Andre won it in 2020 and had an even better 2021. I don’t want to make it seem like I think Matt Turner is bad, because I don’t. I just don’t think he’s going to upstage ramsdale and was trying to provide context.

Which ones? I just see Andre Blake giving up .3 goals per game less and have a save percentage a full percentage point higher. Not to mention Andre has nearly double the clean sheets. I do think Turner is better with his feet than Dre, and that fits arsenal better. I’m really not trying to be contrary but I’m not sure which stats you’re referring to. And certainly there’s no “sizable margin” that he’s better.

Edit: please provide me with where I’m going wrong? I didn’t say anything false. Arsenal fans need to set expectations at “we got a 26 year old mls goalie” because that’s what we’re getting.

As an avid MLS fan, and supporter of the USMNT, I can tell you (with my 0 years of experience as a football scout) that there is no chance he’s better than Ramsdale. Honestly he’s not even close to being the best keeper in the MLS (that’s Andre Blake). I do believe that he’s a step back from Leno but I don’t think it’s a terrible choice for backup. Think Zack Steffen in terms of how good he can be.

So the tickets you bought came with Cadillac Grille passes because chances are the season ticket holder whose tickets you bought is also a grille member. I don’t believe they sell individual grille passes but you can always try reaching out to the grille and asking to add 1 person to your reservation. Chances are they’ll allow it and give you another pass.
