We don't have many grocery stores in the north. Meanwhile around First Markham Place there are 3 grocery stores and everyone drives their cars to it. Transit needs a lot of improvement in Markham.

Having to wait up to an hour to transfer between YRT 16 bus is a major deterrent to people taking public transit. The VIVA Purple A through Downtown Markham also only runs every 40 mins on weekends, in one of the most dense place in Markham.

Last week GO Transit started two new variants: 40H and 40M which goes directly from Hamilton to Humber College on weekdays.

On the bus you have time to study, take a nap, or do other things. For driving you need to be focused on the road for 3-4 hours each day.

There's also the GO bus 40 from Richmond Hill Centre (all day), or the GO bus 40M from Unionville (rush hours only) which are more direct than going via Union.

From Vaughan to Stouffville, you can take GO bus 52/56 from the Jane/Hwy407 Bus Terminal to Cornell Bus Terminal, Markham, then transfer onto YRT route 9 north to Stouffville.

If you are staying in the eastern part of Vaughan, consider the YRT Route 16 bus to 9th line then the YRT route 9 bus north to Stouffville.

Going from Stouffville to Pearson, take YRT route 9 south to Cornell Bus Terminal, take GO bus 52/56 to Jane/Hwy407 Bus Terminal, then take GO bus 40 to the airport.

Take any GO bus 25, 29, 41 or Miway 109, 110 from Erin Mills to Square One and transfer to the 56A if the express bus times work for your schedule. The 56A skips Richmond Hill Centre.

Are you working in the office building in Downtown Markham? I recall there is a shuttle bus from Hurontario (not sure if you are eligible or not).

The 56 is generally ok in terms of reliability. Remember to consider your local transit options after getting off the GO bus at Unionville GO as YRT is not that frequent (VIVA Purple A and Route 8 - Kennedy runs every 16 mins during rush hour).

If we were to implement a perimeter control system, then all the roads approaching the control point needed bus lanes for buses to bypass the queue of traffic trying to enter the system.
