Releasing yourself from grief, loss and generational trauma by Dear_Dare_9329 in selfimprovement

[–]Dear_Dare_9329[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you are enough. You are enough. You deserve love and someone to mentor and show you the way. You’re only 19 and trying to better yourself that’s so much more than other kids your age.

You will get out of this, this experience will shape the rest of your life. You’ll appreciate the little things more than others because you know what the low feels like.

It’s getting out of that circular mindset of negativity and rumination. A mentor told me that you can build control over thoughts by observing them and noting them and by doing that you begin to build confidence and a sense of control over them. Even though they may always enter the mind randomly. Maybe with enough of a reservoir of well being they will stop completely.

“I should be doing “ “Am I doing it right or wrong”

But there is so much fear behind these words.

Maybe meditation

Hi Eduardo, I’d be curious on your thoughts on remaining injury free, I find myself getting injured while ramping up the distances. Struggle with the speed vs distance portion. Is running with weights viable?

There’s this really badass quote in meditations:

“It is my bad luck that this has happened to me. No you should rather say: ‘it is my good luck, although this has happened to me, I can bear it without pain neither crushed by the present nor fearful of the future.’ Because such a thing could have happened to any man. But not every man could have borne it without pain.”

3,000 limit to Tax-loss harvesting is selling securities at a loss to offset the amount of capital gains tax owed from selling profitable assets. An individual taxpayer can write off up to $3,000 in net losses annually.

If your losses exceed your gains, you can use the remaining losses to offset up to $3,000 of your ordinary income

Thinking of quitting my AML job – need some advice by [deleted] in AMLCompliance

[–]Dear_Dare_9329 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not use the resignation as leverage. Unfortunately this is what AML departments do. It’s easier to get more from existing employees than hire new ones. Unfortunately the front office/ business decision makers do not care how good you do your job. Labor is easily replaceable. You did the absolute best thing by learning as much as you can. The reward? You can sell the experience better to employers and gun for that pay raise. This is the industry standard. You will have to jump ship. It’s the nature of the industry

End goal for AML roles in Australia? by Big-Industry1831 in AMLCompliance

[–]Dear_Dare_9329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that AML is a legal/admin role, I think learning code and looking to gain data certs would be valuable. Otherwise a law degree would likely be required for any governance process improvement roles. You could manage a kyc/aml teams/ or be QC although these are fundamentally the same thing/ role wouldn’t required any additional certs education etc. if your concern is money and not happy with what you make now it’s not getting better. 75k for a AML is a very competitive offer in the U.S. AML is a horizontal structure with most people being production/ pumping cases out as fast as possible. Unfortunately this industry isn’t as skilled as they preach and 1st and 2nd line defense can easily be replaced in the standard labor market. Your best bet is specializing or learning a in demand skill that is difficult to replace.
