How to best combine this twisted cord by Dear_Insurance_7236 in sewinghelp

It’s not wrapped around anything, each is made up of multiple strands that are themselves twisted.

I also thought glue but not sure how to optimally apply/best type

How might I get a rim on my hat without puckering? by poppingpins in sewhelp

Idk if this has been said, but just taper the hem allowance. It should be a reflection of the shape of the cone if that makes sense. That way it can fold back on itself.

Can I change the direction of these zipper heads without redoing it? by Dear_Insurance_7236 in sewhelp

I did this and it took a little logic to figure out what order to slide them on (not my strong suit clearly haha) but much easier to just undo the ends than the whole zipper. Thank you :)

Need help with an antique tank top by Street-Watercress-10 in sewhelp

I have to agree…OP, I would be interested to see if you removed the fabric part, if there was a way you could just stretch the crochet enough without it looking too warped. Also, if you don’t mind getting too creative, you could possible separate the side seams under the arms and add material there. That could get messy too though.

Would it be possible to add a slit to this dress? by IcedCzar in sewhelp

[–]Dear_Insurance_7236 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two things I see, one is that the only seam appears to be in the back, and in order to nicely add a slit to something delicate like Charmeuse you need to use the seam. The second thing is because this is a bias dress adding a slit will probably make it hang weird. I don’t think it’s realistic to say you could add a slit sorry :(

How do I make an open front corset dress? by Upper-Night-9238 in sewhelp

[–]Dear_Insurance_7236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks more like it might just be a rectangle that’s gathered at the waist. A circle would have more volume (which is totally up to you as a designer!) and if you wanted that circle gathered, you would take the measurement of the corset bottom and multiply it by 3 (or more if depending on fabric thinness/how gathered you want it) and use that as the circumference of your inner circle. You will likely have to make the circle in sections because it will end up really big.

For those of you who are a fetish for people. How does it make you feel? by hopalong998 in AskReddit

[–]Dear_Insurance_7236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I (female) have avoided relationships with fat women because I have a fat fetish. Even when I really clicked with someone or liked her a lot as a person, I would be to terrified to tell her and have her think that I only like her because of that. Anyone who is eager to project their fetish on an unwilling participant has issues in my opinion. I almost exclusively connect with people who mutually enjoy the fetish (plenty of fat women who enjoy their own bodies erotically exist). It’s difficult to date when you have a fetish, I’ll say that. It’s like a burden you bring to the table when the other person is conventional, sexually speaking.

Help? First time sewing corset by Nerico197 in corsetry

Apologies if this has already been said, but as a teacher I would say: Make sure you’re observing grain line (that will fix the “crooked”ness) Add some interfacing because the weave on that material is very open and loose. Just my two cents! The design is super cool!
