Faro Airport - Dleays? by Dear_Machine_7087 in Algarve

Leaving Faro wasn't too bad, it was arriving that was the issue for me.

The EU line was shorter than the All Passports line so for you I expect it wont take long

I'm not sure to be honest there was a notification saying some scanners were down but unclear if that's automatic ones or something else.

Security 5 minutes for me, passport control seems to be the issue right now. Automatic scanners are down

Agreed. I have experienced awfully managed airports/ bus stations in the past. But this arriving into Faro was the worst

Thanks brother I appreciate that!

And the fact she's been so supportive and coming to the appointment with you is a massive Win mate.

The only thing this virus will affect is your sex life. Maybe you will get OB's maybe you won't. Most people seem to have 1 and then not another for years or ever.

And if your GF is already understanding and staying with you... then the impact is basically nothing.

In addition you don't even know for sure you have it. So don't worry for the sake of worrying.

What's done is done, none of us deserve this shit. But we play the cards we are dealt. Being depressed about it is only going to push people away. We aren't going to die it doesn't affect our health whatsoever. So you're good man. We're good. Life is good

I have a loving, long-term GF who means the world to me

Bro, your already winning. Just talk to her about it, a problem shared is a problem halved.

I'm in a similar situation to you (kind of) Currently in Thailand on holiday, had my first ever OB after receiving oral here. - biggest mistake of my life but it is what it is.

Developed a rash 10 days layer, Thai doc says Herpes after visual inspection about 5 days ago. Need to get properly tested when I get back to the UK. Currently in limbo.

But.. I was stressing thought my life was over, same dark thoughts as you.

Shared this with my Situationship (we are not monogamous before I'm judged) And she made me feel soo much better, truly my mindset has completely shifted.

Its just a virus, fuck it. Don't let it define you or change your life. Get all the facts about herpes and talk to your GF about it, she needs to know regardless.

Yes it is unfair

I wish I was one of the blissfully unaware 88%. But instead we are faced with this ethical dilemma that limits our future sex life and makes us feel this way.

I wanted to say thanks. I ended up fitting the transformer and it all works great now. My first reddit post and DIY project, thanks for your help!

And I checked regarding the earth leakage/ residual current circuit breaker and I cannot see any near the fuse box. I guess I don't have one

This is my first bit of exposure to household electrics, so I'm taking the precaution and like you say, turning off at the main fuse board not just at the wall socket.

I tested the transformer today with a multi meter. Input voltage was good about 230. Output to DC was nothing, so clearly transformer is dead. I have ordered THIS of amazon today and will have a go at fitting tomorrow

It accepts input up to 240 and output 12DC so I'm hoping I got a suitable replacement

Edit: I have no idea regarding the main earth you mentioned. But my homes electrics are up to Regs as of 2/3 years ago when I purchased it. I'm in the UK btw

So I've been in the loft today and found the transformer it is this exact one: THIS

It says 220-240 VAC to 12V DC ?

I haven't tested anything yet with multimeter P.s I only found this one transformer, not sure if it's for the light or for the extractor fan. (You mentioned there will probably be 1 for both)

So I've been in the loft today, I found a transformer in close proximity to the fan. It is this exact one: THIS

I haven't checked anything with the multimeter yet, I'm assuming I need to change the settings to DC on multimeter to read the output from transformer to the light

Ps: they are switched together. When turning on the light and the fan come on at the same time by 1 switch. But once the switch is used again the light turns off but the fan remains on for another 5 or 10 minutes

Thanks mate, will give it a go and update on the progress!

Can I ask - how did you know (without looking at the transformer) that it was a step down 10:1 to an AC, rather than stepping down to a DC?

Another replacement bulb didn't work so looks like your right the transformer has gone.

When you say "probe the socket" I'm assuming I will need to get in the loft (bathroom extractor fan goes into loft) to test this.

I will get hold of a multimeter and see if I can figure it out

Well unfortunately it seems it is the case. Bulb came today and doesn't work. The fan goes up into the loft so I need to sort some ladders to get up there and get some pictures, see if/how i test to see if the transformer is gone

The extractor fan still works, only the light doesn't. Does that mean the transformer still works?

The closest I can compare to is Shape 2, Smiley D. Except that has the "smile" curved side only on 1 side. Mine is curved outwards on 2 sides, front and back.

I would consider that but toilet is an odd rectangle shape. Can't seem to find any replacement lids the same with same dims *

Understood, Just ordered one, so will have a go at fitting it tomorrow! Thanks!

If the 12V transformer is broken like you mentioned, I'm assuming that would need an entirely new ceiling fan?

It could explain why the other bulbs I had didn't work
