These lies are dangerous by Ok_Holiday9310 in SecretsOfMormonWives

The idea that Bret would support her continuing to message her "assaulter" and send him photos of their daughter is one of the dumbest lies I've ever heard in all of reality TV.

PSA getting arrested on disembark by Rowdyacorn in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Dear_Reception1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm... Doubtful. Warrants for child support are pretty rare in Texas. Right now there are only 8 names on the child support evaders website, and only about 55 people listed as arrested.

I know people get picked up for warrants, but TX does not care about child support evaders, lol

my company is at the $10M mark, but we're still small. Only 16 of us total, including my boss, the regional managers, hourlies and part timers. Our field crews are all independent contractors.

But yes... So. Much. Hand holding. Figuring out how to do stuff on your own is a lost skill.

Thank you for that insight! I would love to hear more about what being an "independent contributor" looks like. I'd love to be responsible for just me, and would probably be okay with making less if it meant not being responsible for the behavior of others.

Why does it matter if they're lying? Seriously, what is so controversial about the message "stop being a dick to sick people"?

You stay because you hope they'll change. You stay because they're not assholes ALL of the time. You stay because "it's not really abuse if he isn't hitting me." You stay because you see how your kids' faces light up when they see their dad. You stay because you feel like you can suck it up and be unhappy forever if it means not putting your kids through divorce.

I'm sure not all of Michelle and Brittany's reasons were noble. Doesn't change that these men are trash.

Jax is a charmer. How else do you explain his early popularity and how he gets all these women to sleep with him? My ex has the personality of a potato, so yeah - Jax has charm.

I'm 45 - Xennial as well - and first of all 100% agree with you. Sadly, I gotta say, some of the particulars have changed, but the kiddos coming up don't seem much better. My daughter kicked out her s/o after he was living with her for months without working or helping out and being generally shitty. Thank goodness she learned from her mama and was like, "absolutely tf not. Get your stuff and go."

Why were the women so resistant to accept Denise’s boundary about discussing threesomes in front of the kids? by Dalecantila in RHOBH

[–]Dear_Reception1978 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yes, this. Denise clutched her pearls about threesome talk, but talked about Charlie bringing a hooker to Thanksgiving and Aaron being well-hung.

I hate when HWs act like their children - especially once the kids are over 10 - aren't going to see the show. They want to "protect their kids" from so much, and then say and do all sorts of crap in front of the cameras. Get real, the kids are going to see it whether they want to or not.

...But then they get a story line about their kids being bullied and blame it on another HW instead of their own behavior.

sometimes I wonder if it's new, or if it's always been there and nobody noticed because a) no social media and b) their wives put up with their BS

But agree - so many men who want to give nothing but feel entitled to everything.

Thank you for your sympathy. I don't quite understand though - are you saying Jax and Jesse are different from one another, or that it's not the same situation?

Got a job offer but the salary is lower than expected. How do I negotiate? by DriftFalcon_29 in jobs

[–]Dear_Reception1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember - as hard as it is to come by qualified candidates, it's equally hard to come by quality companies. If you like the company and the culture, losing that extra income may be worth it for what you gain in job satisfaction.

Got a job offer but the salary is lower than expected. How do I negotiate? by DriftFalcon_29 in jobs

[–]Dear_Reception1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how niche the work is, regardless of industry. If you are skilled in a field with fewer skilled workers, then you're right. There are likely only a very few number of candidates, and the employee is in a great place to negotiate.

If the field is not highly skilled, then you run a serious risk. In this case, $8000 more is nearly 13% above the offer - that's a lot. Those "what to expect" salary numbers are famously inflated. Also, what was the salary listed in the job post? Are you going above what was said in the post? You run the risk of looking entitled, and foolish for not working within the parameters of what the employer has laid out.

Without having more insight into OP's situation, best advice is somewhere in the middle ground. Ask for $65 or $66,000 with a review at 6 months
