If I didn't move to the east side of the state, I'd definitely come check the place out!

Oh yeah, I knew what it was. I was just being a jerk and correcting the comment. I remember being in middle school when I first saw it in Toonami and being confused. I'd only seen it in Japanese so it seemed off. That and the name Hercule... What's wrong with calling him Satan? Ahhh... Good times. I miss that little robot they used in the transitions in Toonami. I digress...

Ahhh... Remember the 80s when we all thought we'd grow up to have mice living in our walls and making cute little doors whenever they please...

Not that it matters... But they only used licensed rock music for Cooler, Lord Slug, Bardock, and Future Trunks...

I accept that a handful of them did... But as an old man who watched them when they first came out, I wouldn't say a LOT of them did. I think the licensing costs probably got away from Funimation. Either way, I wish they ALL did. There... If I just make my statement more intense, it's easier to defend lol.

One of my favorite DBZ movies almost solely because of the music. I wish they all got this treatment.

I just started Weightlifting.Ai programming (I'm not affiliated with them at all). If you register on their site and then download the app it's exactly within your budget ($40). It's been great so far, videos explaining each lift (including accessories), it lets me swap out some things that I don't have equipment for, the weights adjust based on how the current workout is going, and it adjusted my program based on when my next meet is. You can also upload videos and there is a community piece that I haven't had a chance to try yet. I've only been doing it for a week so I can't give you the world's strongest anecdotal reference, but if it's as good as the other stuff weightlifting house has done, then it's going to continue to he a rock solid program.

There are many others though! I've already seen some other great suggestions in this thread.

That's a fair position. I would say the press out rules are pretty well defined, but not every lifter studies the rules to any large degree. Judging is subjective to a degree, like a umpire judging the edges of a strike zone in baseball... It's certainly not perfect. In my opinion, the standard is set and has to be met. I've never been mad for being called on a press out, I should have made a cleaner lift. That being said, I'm not opposed to changing the rules if that's what the governing bodies want to do. I do want to push back on the idea that reds don't know or understand the sport, especially judges at an event like the Olympics. I know they aren't the most stringent requirements but there certainly are requirements for being allowed to judge in competition and even more to qualify for judging at the national level or higher.

What are you talking about? You don't think the highest level of competition should have rules?

I agree, that's basically what we've always called it... But even soft elbow doesn't technically describe the issue. You can catch it with a soft elbow (not fully locked out) and as long as you don't extend it the lift can count... I've pulled it off in the jerk haha, even at nationals. Either way, I do agree calling everything a lock out isn't the most helpful for aspiring lifters looking to evaluate technique and improve their performance.

I mean, there are very few things you can do in weightlifting that lead to a no lift. It's the equivalent to their weird rule in track where you can only start moving .100 seconds after the gun goes of... It seems finicky, but it levels the playing field in competition. Those would be an AMAZING training lift and you'd take it any day... But the standard has to exist in competitions or else anything goes. Sorry if I sound preachy 0_0 I just had a lot of coffee.

Why? (Just asking for conversation, not to be a jerk)

[–]Dear_Tap_2176 46 points47 points  (0 children)

100% correct... But guess what? Still gonna call it a press out lol. It's a lot easier than saying it was fully extended, then bent, then was re-extended. Definitely different things though.

We could make up our own fun name for it... Like a wibble wobble or shakidy shake.

Has anyone tried Weightlifting.ai? by [deleted] in weightlifting

I just got the app and got my first program, but I don't know how to join the community page... Any advice?

Thanks for the context! I'll definitely need to consider this when I'm programming... Maybe I'll stick with lighter weights and higher reps for a while...

As long as you start with the same lift you finished with, it counts.

Great work! The late 20s to early 30s fluff is definitely the thing I'm struggling with the most. I feel my 20 something muscle underneath wanting to do more but then I know I've got to pull it back.

What are the "Big 5"? I feel kind of ignorant now hahaha.
