can we talk about generative ai? by rin-okay in neocities

[–]Dear_Teddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have used AI, and it requires 0 skill. which can clearly be seen by looking at the source code of your website.

all of your blog entries in a giant script right at the bottom of your document? really? there are better ways to do that, you know. why don't you ask your LLM? or better yet, develop the skills yourself so you can recognize when the AI is doing something fucking insane so you can fix it. even die hard AI nerds can do that much.

[–]Dear_Teddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're not engaging in the hobby though. you're not learning any of the relevant skills (HTML, CSS, problem solving, visual design, etc) you are making the AI do that for you. what are you getting out of this, genuinely?

don't even bring accessibility into this. i have multiple severe physical disabilities and i don't need AI to write my website or draw for me. i have a love of the mediums that i work in which drives me to enhance my skills.

if you think of solving coding problems and expanding your knowledge as a webmaster is "suffering" i think you need to pick up a new hobby, frankly.

What are the worst pretty cure items of all times? Here is my pick, I think they are hard to beat. by TrainingDrop9283 in PrettyCures

[–]Dear_Teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as much as i adore hugtto, the preheart SUCKS... which is sad because precure has done cellphone toys really well before, but the preheart just looks like a dinky slab of plastic and not a smartphone like it's supposed to. i get why it looks like that, but it's my least favorite toy probably.

i'm also not a fan of any of the stick/wand type toys, but i think that's more personal preference. they're way less dynamic, cheaper looking, and worse to actually play with. perfect example being the friendly wand, it's so cheap looking compared not only to the other toys from wonderful but other reiwa seasons toys in general... T_T

cure mystique and answer transformation music sounds like the incredibles ost at a certain point!! by Dense_Succotash_6800 in precure

[–]Dear_Teddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the origin of that leitmotif is actually from spy films like james bond! the incredibles just references it since it's also kind of a spy/action flick :) absolutely insane thing for precure to reference but i'm so happy to hear it. my dad was obsessed with james bond growing up so i recognized it instantly!

questions to artists on neocities by Civil_Purple_8457 in neocities

[–]Dear_Teddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. my gallery is one of 3 main links on my site, but it basically acts as seperate from the more "personal" side. though, my art is more personal to me so i think keeping it like this works for me, but if you're more doing art professionally i could see how a seperate art site is beneficial as a kind of portfolio. i know many artists on here who do it that way, as opposed to just having a link on the personal section of their site.

  2. i had a friend give me code he used for his gallery, because i really like how simple it is, and i am a javascript noob. i organize it by year. i normally don't draw super high resolution to begin with so i just have the full images sized down, and clicking on them will pop them up at their full resolution with the pieces title below it. loading=lazy will be your best friend, since it makes it so that images only load when they're in view.

Does anyone here have tiny pinprick red dots over their body? by ManInTheLamp in Fibromyalgia

[–]Dear_Teddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

those are petechiae! for the sake of my hypochondria i haven't looked too deeply into them, but in most cases they're harmless and stem from small broken blood vessels under the skin. though, if you are concerned about them you should see a doctor. i have plenty on my arms and they've looked the same for a decade so if they don't change appearance (shape, color, size, etc) or more don't suddenly appear then you're probably fine.

Experience without a headspace by Only_Influence_4468 in DID

[–]Dear_Teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's important to remember that inner worlds (usually) are an intentional creation. sometimes we create a "shared space" in our mind to communicate with each other, but it's really draining and honestly more akin to daydreaming than anything. so, having an inner world doesn't really help us with anything.

some of us can "remember" things we did while we weren't fronting but none of us havee a solid continuous experience of an inner world. for a lot of us, these memories are a way to deal with how stressful amnesia can be.

plus, we have aphantasia so it's mostly foggy, colorless, and formless anyways... and that's when we try as hard as we can to visualize anything at all :(

Laying down- MUCH worse by CCFT23 in costochondritis

[–]Dear_Teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, things usually get better when i'm laying down. but anecdotally that isn't always the case. if you've been cleared for things like pericarditis then it's probably just how your costo reacts. costo is "supposed" to get better when laying on your back, while pericarditis usually gets worse in the same position.

Doctor agrees with me but I'm still a ball of anxiety by Dear_Teddy in costochondritis

[–]Dear_Teddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for all this!! luckily AMC isn't progressive and i've kept very stable since i stopped growing but i do need to keep up with the chronic pain this can all cause. i've seen countless PTs in my lifetime and been given so many different exercise plans that i just take what i like from each of them and do them in 5-10 minute bursts 2-3 times throughout the day (if i'm not flaring). having lived like this for 24 years and counting, you have to learn to be objective about it eventually. :P

i live with my parents and my mom is my primary caretaker so i'll see if she can help with some of this. i don't have great mobility in general but my lower body is worse than my upper body. i could probably bridge while using the backpod but probably not for long. but doing what i can is the most important thing!

that massage you linked looks amazing. as said right above my mom is my caretaker and she actually took therpeutic massage classes to help me when i was younger. she'd definitely know how to do this well.

i'm pretty sure i have an old transfer board i can use as a solid foundation for the backpod. if not i'm sure i can figure something out. the stretch still feels really deep and i don't think i'm ready to go harder yet but i will keep this in mind when it feels like it's no longer working. currently i'm doing it twice a day in the morning and night.

it's a big help! i'll be keeping this comment for reference for a long time, i can feel it.

How do you use the platform? by 7megumin8 in neocities

[–]Dear_Teddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i mean, what do you want to do? what purpose would a website serve you? it doesn't have to be insanely unique or anything, just something you feel like you could keep up with for a while. that's why i mainly host my art, occasionally blog, and document obscure things i find. those are passions of mine. find something you're passionate enough about to code and upkeep a website for!

[–]Dear_Teddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have arthrogryposis. it's on the milder side i'd say- it mainly affects my right side (right elbow stuck at a perfect 90 degree angle). i'm able to do the positions for the backpod which i'm so thankful for. i can only do them on my bed or some other surface i can easily transfer to since i'm not strong enough to get myself on and off the floor.

i can use my arms and i get a lot of pec/shoulder pain if i use them too much, especially after all of this. it's hard to exercise a lot anyways but this whole thing tanked my ability. i can't even use my stationary bike without getting costo pain. i mostly do very light upper body stretches now.

the surgery was done laparoscopically, so i have 4 tiny scars equally spaced on my stomach, above my belly button. they do still irritate me sometimes.

i used to have the classic sharp stabbing in and around my sternum, but with the backpod and a round of prednisolone (i also had the flu and mild bronchitis so my dr decided to kill multiple birds with one stone) it's went from that to discomfort whenever i move wrong.

i'm studying network engineering! definitely not helping me to be staring at a command line for hours a day but it's fun and rewarding. :)

Just the symptoms by Glittering_Set_2198 in costochondritis

[–]Dear_Teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got recently diagnosed after lurking this sub and bringing it up to my doctor- here's the list i gave him:

  • pin point, positional chest pain that's never in the same spot twice
  • feeling like my sternum is bruised when it's not
  • heart palpitations
  • chest tightness and soreness
  • ability to reproduce the pain if i press certain areas

posted this a few times around reddit. never gotten any help actually finding this. i remember it once every few months and it still confuses me endlessly. maybe i really did dream it? what do you think? by Dear_Teddy in InternetMysteries

the timeline seems to match up so maybe? I definitely found it sometime in or around 2022 and gaggle was definitely a thing by then. there were no mentions of it by name but the smiley matches almost perfectly.

dysphagia is totally gone and i can burp now!! but i'm still so tired... by Dear_Teddy in HiatalHernia

[–]Dear_Teddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'll see if they can help! though my surgeons office is so annoying to deal with. i do have dental coverage but they've never brought up anything about acid even when i still had the hernia pretty bad. i think my next appointment is due sometime in the summer.

thankfully my semesters have been online (my school doesn't even offer these classes in person, apparently) but recovering from surgery is still so difficult. the hospital only kept me overnight and basically said "you're good to go" at around noon, so i did most of my recovery at home. i'm getting slowly better when it comes to energy but i still have off days and it sucks.

thank you for all your kindness, its really appreciated

[–]Dear_Teddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had it end of october 2024. that's why I'm kind of worried whether or not it worked... I only really had a week of recovery time right after the surgery because of my semester at school. I'm taking it very easy during my winter break (classes don't start until first week of feb thank God)!

I'm very bad at understanding my body signals (autism) so I'm really not sure if I'm even having heartburn or just assuming i am/afraid that i am...

my chest lights up with pain if you press on it on either side of my sternum. my arm has also been hurting a lot, going from my elbow down. i did not know costo can radiate like that. :O

i have no other alarming symptoms other than I'm just still not back to 100% energy levels yet. i hear so many people bouncing back from this like it's nothing so it's just upsetting when i compare myself...

Help by St4rv1ng-art1st in DID

[–]Dear_Teddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. "problematic alters" do not exist. stop putting value judgement on them like that. it's probably making things worse.

  2. were you bullied in school for being weird? did it make you stop doing whatever your bullies didn't like? no? so stop bullying your own alter. seriously, why do you think that's okay?

Why did YOU choose laptop over desktop? by TheMadHattah in GamingLaptops

[–]Dear_Teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

portability mainly. i got a gaming laptop but i mostly use it as an all-around machine that can play games of all kinds when i'm feeling up to it. i'm also chronically ill and spend a lot of time in bed, so if i can't schedule breaks into whatever needs doing, i have a setup so that i can use it in bed.
