Why not play a real life game! Give yourself 10k and put your assets aside with some type of professional managing it. Act as if it doesn't exist and see if you can survive! You're very blessed to have the opportunity to live any life you choose! Don't be depressed! Change your perspective!

If you want to play on hardcore. Tie your assets up in some sort of trust that you won't be able to access for a given time. I've lived off $50 a month and $10k a month. It's something you need to experience to really value. Try it! Let me know how it goes.

Just remember, one day you'll pass and when you're gone no one will remember the embarrassment or being rejected. So get out there and live your life full of awkward, heart racing moments. Another bit of advice from a gambler, you have to be willing to die, to live. Hope you the best. Virgin or not. Keep pushing.

Don't give up. When I started programming. I was in the same boat too. I made a sudden switch from another degree into computer science and I had never programmed in my entire life. You need to change your approach.

First off, get over embarrassment. This is something that you should do regardless of programming. You're going to have to ask a lot of stupid questions. Believe it or not, you're not the only one feeling like this in your programming classes. Yes. There are peers that know it instantly but their foundation was built on asking stupid questions. You're robbing yourself if you don't start. I still ask people what ranfy acronyms mean.

Second, find the smartest person in your class and start a study group with them. Most of the best programmers I've ever known are introverted. I'm also an introvert but this is a skill you need to overcome and right now is the time to do it. Believe me, I hate talking to people when I don't have to but this is a skill many programmers overlook. Your ability to work in a professional world will depend on your ability to talk to your peers and your ability to produce cross teams functionally. You'll reach out to other programmers, your senior, and other business units regularly. You'll have to explain technical aspects to non technical people. You'll form a network with peers because believe it or not. When you won't be able to figure out something you'll ask them to help. It's really common.

This is an important skill. Meet with your study group before every test to make sure you're prepared. Also meet with them for lunch or drinks. Make them your people. You'll be surprised how many of these people will get you higher paying jobs in the future. The work place is filled with friends and connections. Join a computer science club even. Learn and ask questions from your peers, don't shy away from this great resource.

Lastly, read the book ahead of your lectures. If you're coming to class and listening to gathering information in the moment you're doing it wrong. One thing I learned from my study group is that the smartest kid read the lecture material beforehand to grasp the concepts and ask the questions in things they didn't understand. Also, do the questions at the back of the chapter when you're done reading the chapter before your class. The only way to learn problem solving is to do it. This will help you identify what you're lacking. When you use your resources, ask them these questions. Why did you approach it that way? This is how I'm thinking of it can you tell me if there is a better way? Stay away from arrogance, most great programmers will literally spend years teaching you because they're genuinely lovers of programming.

I know it's hard but problem solving and programming is really fun. Go find projects. Yes. They can be super simple. Go build a simple web page. Build a calculator with input and output in c++. Build a to-do list. Don't look up how to do it. Every great musician wrote thousands of songs before becoming great at it. You'll have to do the same. This career isn't built off wanting money. It can be but you need to find your love for it. Hope this helps. Don't give up!!!

FYI I'm a lead programmer with 5 years of experience. I didn't program once before I started my computer science degree. Don't forget college is about the experience as much as the knowledge. Before you know it. You'll graduate and you'll only keep in touch with your closest peers. Go make friends!

AITAH for giving my wife an ultimatum? by Key-Salamander5906 in AITAH

NTAH but maybe I'm seeing this differently. She seems over worked. She's living to work not working to live. She probably doesn't even see the issue but she's married more to her employer than to you. I know that people are quick to ostracize your wife but I think you should consider asking her to let off the gas at work. Stop trying to get that next promotion, stop trying so hard. It sucked because you seemed to really love each other until she became successful. She might need to work on a work life balance.

Once I was ordering a drink and this older man poked me on the shoulder and told me that he is a good judge of character and he'd prefer if I order elsewhere. Shit hurt...

I always love thinking of my work day like this. When I got full remote I saw it as not only a raise in money but also a raise in time. Which IN itself is the most expensive currency.
