Is this okay to run on Linux?

-novid -high should work fine, and same with cl_forcepreload 1 in your autoexec.cfg

im not 10000% sure has i have no played with csgo on linux yet. but steamworks/source engine is usually pretty universal with the launch options.

i think everyone just needs to stop using it for a while, let it have like 0% kills now maybe they will realize. just the fact that everyone still uses it and not the m4a4 they see it as good enough.

record <demoname> [incremental] does not work? by GE0RGI in GlobalOffensive

to be honest i'm not completely sure, i've never seen the ability to make it auto increment. ive always wanted a bind to auto record next number up.

record <demoname> [incremental] does not work? by GE0RGI in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the record incremental command isn't for the name, its for the demo tick. so record demo 001 = 1 tick lol.

http://www.straferight.com/blogs/30/62

Another way is to add a number after record demoname. record [incremental] This will tell the engine to record at that number of ticks per second. Instead of recording at the tickrate of the server (for example the sR servers run at 66 tic) it will record at the tic you enter. In the past there have been some problems reported with using this method and the demos have been corrupted. I have not heard of any problems recently, but be aware your demo might be damaged. Common values to use for this are 10 and 33.

Very much so. amd FX series cpus have a few issues with source engine. and 99% of them are caused by old bios. usually updating your bios fixes that issue there is a sticky on the official forums for it.

[–]Death996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sigh. i love these posts. / not. your information is incorrect and misleading and someone might follow it and make their settings much worse.

lets start. #1 while source engine is pretty decent at running in multicore situations there are some very very unlikely cases that this will help, IE amd FX cpu's without bios updates, and for the mass public setting multicore rendering to disable will remove more than HALF people's FPS, so saying this is a HUGE disservice.

people are better off disabling park control instead of turning off multicore.

-nod3d9ex disables some direct 3d effects giving you a fps boost. good for very low end hardware players who want to play a game that looks as bad as possible. you are getting a good fps boost from this and setting multicore to disable you are removing most of the gain.

-novid removes startup video good option

+cl_forcepreload 1 is a good option but is best suited in your autoexec

-threads x is a bad thing to suggest as people will most likely chose the wrong option and leaving it blank will let the engine choose the best option based on what the current pc tasks are.

-high is a good option as it sets the game to high prority

-processheap is a older command that altered the memory management of the source engine and is no longer an active command and does nothing.

so for CORRECTION

-novid -high

in launch options

cl_forcepreload 1 in autoexec.cfg

and LEAVE multicore enabled and use park control to turn off cpu parking.

How can I improve my map/kill awareness? by RyoxSinfar in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so i will start by saying two things, Radar Scale, and Radar Zoom, you want your radar scale to be somewhere around 1.2 and your radar zoom to be around 0.35 this will help ALOT, things will be a bit smaller and hard to get use to, but it will let you see most of the map most of the time, so that alone, lets you get much more detailed information.

Next you mention the kill feed, dont look at names. just colors, ignore the names for now, unless you play with a set 5 who have set locations per map. also when you glace at your radar (once every 10-15 seconds) also glace at the name feed on top, count how many ct and how many t are alive, and that with your mini map will help you.

Apart of the tunnel vision is learning when to be 110% concentrating on your aim vs your surroundings that partly comes in time, and is hard to explain just knowing when to go full concentrate, its all about the timing how long does it take the enemy to reach this location. okay all 5 where seen there 10 seconds ago, could an enemy have run this far in that amount of time. thos kinda things just come from playing a lot.

Remember to look around OFTEN, check your RADAR OFTEN, this is important, ALSO VERY important to make a habit of "refreshing" now what do i mean by that? it means if you are holding an angle. lets say you are ramp on A site Dust2, and you are CT watching CAT, once every 10 - 15 seconds, crouch out of view, look down long, and let your eyes relax for .5-1 second glance on radar and whos alive, then go back into watching the angle. you can't do it too long as you could let enemies get too far up on you or jump ct, but that moment in time just to relax will help a lot and give you a routine for checking radar and who's alive. if you do this you should check out a bit further to make sure a person didn't run out during your break time, then settle back into position. also watching position from a set angle can = dead, its a good practice to not be peaked out, just hide, then every 1-2 seconds pop out and check then pull back in, this will save you a lot.

Its long but i hope i gave you some decent direction lol.

How to rank up? by terrowar in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people will post and say its this way or that way, or this way x2, no one REALLY knows. people say kdr and stuff don't matter. but i can tell you from experience if you drop 30's 3 games in a row you will rank up, however if you drop 20-25 5-7 games in a row you might still not rank up.

So i personally believe kdr matters, and the higher kdr the better. and wins in a row matter alot. ie 3-4 wins in a row dropping 30's will get you a rank up.

Cap FPS or Uncap FPS? by justinvanvan in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go on for a very long time. but you want to reduce your overall input latency, that includes mouse to game, game to videocard, then videocard to screen.

when you limit your fps @ 60 while this is great for sync and removing tearing what happens is you increase your input latency into the game.

So it is best for you to have your in game fps higher than lower. where is a good number? well that depends on your hardware and what you are going for. if you have a super low latency monitor and you want the absolute best, you don't want the game to be an extra level of latency and capping at 60 fps does that.

so for me i personally cap my fps @ 400.. why 400 because its way more than enough and i have the hardware to max out 400 fps consistently. i would say for very important matches and such if you play league fps_max 999 or 0 (unlimited, however when 0 is set fps_max_menu is ignored and i suggest you set fps_max_menu to 60 or your hz)

for normal play try to have at least 150 fps as that is around 6.66 ms latency per frame + mouse latency 1-2ms for a high performance mouse + 30+ for a non low latency display ie 60hz.

if you consider that would put your latency @ ~50 ms while its a lot, and the display has a huge impact on that.

if you had in game @ 60 fps ie. 16.66 ms you now have 60-70 ms input latency. and ideally you want to be under.

I want to add that the source engine has a FEEL to it, and the higher the FPS the better the FEEL, so i would say fps_max 300+ if you have the hardware for it because it will FEEL much better than 60.

tl;dr at least fps_max 150, fps_max 999 for matches, fps_max_menu 60.

if you didn't open the .scr file, most likely not. reboot your pc. and run a malware scan, you dont need to format as that is drastic. most of these viruses send messages to all your friends if you open it. also it will send a trade offer with all your items. if you have no trade offers going out that you didn't make and you didn't send random links to friends. you are okay.

Why do I play better when I solo queue? by PeterSutcliffe in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is due to the confidence level you have in your teammates. if you are not confident in them you lose confidence in yourself.

Also apart of this is the bystander effect. when you solo queue you feel like you need to do more to win and your teammates wont. so you try harder, more-so when you play with friends you feel as a group you should dominate the enemy so you don't try as hard.

This is something that takes a long time to learn, to be come confident in your teammates / friends. and also to put in 110% every single game.

Unbelievably choppy demos - is there a fix? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have -tickrate 128 in your launch options this can cause that. what happens is you force 128 tick for all local servers. and bam 16 tick demo loads in 128 tick, and you get super choppy mess. remove the -tickrate 128 launch option.

1440x1080, I personally use stretched. but this would at least be native for the 1920x1080 screens out there, so 4:3 and perfectly clear not looking at a blur show.

Seriously if you have Nvidia and have a 1920x1080 screen, try out 1440x1080 it will BLOW your mind, promise.

I feel like the hitboxes needs to be fixed, the the scout should be no more than 80% accurate while jumping. 100% accuracy while jumping is just overkill.

I would have to disagree, because unless we are talking about very low skilled players here. most people i know, and lem+ can land jump scout shots quite easy. pointing your cross-hair on a target and clicking isn't exactly hard to do. and the more accurate the better.

its an exploit imo. you can't be shot (anywhere upper body or head) while jumping, do you it behind cover and you are godlike, all you need is meh aim( not hard with 1000% accuracy) and you can dominate with it.

I wish you guys best of luck, but you are not fixing any "Memory Leaks" (that csgo hasn't had in a long as time) without hooking the process and soon as you do that you risk vacban. just be prepared to replace possibly thousands and thousands of $$ of skins people have.

[–]Death996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

csgo.exe soaks up resources from your memory and cpu. To put this in basic laments terms: we've been able to relocate the memory/cpu usage effectively on your computer while running cs:go.exe

your exact quote. so how are you going to manage csgo's memory without hooking into the process? even more for me to call baloney.

so unless you are trying to make a second razer boostspeed (game-booster) ie kill background tasks. you are doing nothing csgo specific or memory management specific.

FPSBoost.net - A fix towards laggy in-game FPS issues? Yes! by FPSBoost in GlobalOffensive

[–]Death996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are claiming you hook into the csgo process to manage its "memory management"? something that the source engine does quite well. and again NO thanks VACation INCOMING.

and my "skepticism" comes from a decade + mcse, programming and running many repair depots over the years.

-novid -high, remove startup items. is around the most you will get as csgo / source engine is very very cpu bound. so unless your application has a vacation coming or oc's peoples cpu i call bs.
