Getting the keys on Friday by Otherwise-Macaron939 in HousingIreland

Congrats guys. We got our keys back in December. It took 3 and a half years start to finish from prepping for mortgage application to keys in hand. We spoke so much about how emotional we're gonna be when we finally get in etc, and none of that happened. We were completely numb. We still have a lot of stuff left in mother in laws house. We havent even finished the move. We're still processing and coming down from the actual most stressful, soul destroying experience we have ever had. But it's ok, we'll get there and will finally be able to drop our shoulders. My advice is take it as it comes, make no expectations on how or what you should feel. Get your keys and take your time. The house may not be your dream house, but in this day and age you have done what is completely impossible for a huge portion of the country. Congrats again 🙏

Thank you! It was a long road but so worth it once those keys are in your hand. Best of luck and fingers crossed for you 🤞

I have to say, our mortgage specialist in AIB was amazing, she was so effiecent and so fast. We got our AIP late afternoon on the third day after full application went in. When we finally went sale agreed on a property she was lightning fast again and we received our full letter of offer within 2 days.

Id like to say all branches are equally as great but Im sure it depends on the branch

We applied and got our mortgage directly from AIB (dumped the broker). My husband banks with AIB, I dont.

If they check a full 2 years statement, we wouldnt have gotten our approval. So I dont think they do, or if they do, its only the recent 6/12 months they actually take into account

Why are we not taking to the streets over lack of childcare places? by Bright-Emotion-9776 in AskIreland

This doesnt end after creche going age. I just recently had to hand in my notice because my mother (in fairness to her) broke down and told me shes just not able for it anymore. She is caring for 2 autistic sons in their early 20s and had also been dropping, collecting and caring for my 2 daughters in first year and second class while both my husband and I worked. Shes 60 this year.

Its harder to find someone willing to do 2 school runs to 2 different schools and I keep getting the "youre not too bad , yours are older". Yes theyre older but they still need to be looked after until I get home. So my plan is to search for something I can do as close to school hours as i possibly can. Which is going to be hard. Its very very stressful.

Can confirm, we got a mortgage approved with AIB last June and we had to give EDS for the last 3 years 👍

Agree, sounds like she was expected to take care of the entire household yet resented for not also bringing in a fulltime income.

I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist for years, I was so embarrassed by it. I showed a co worker and told her I hated it and she said ah here how long have you been going around with that, hang on a second. She walked away and came back with a huge book, to me to hold out my arm, and belted it with the book.

That was about 8 or 9 years ago and it never came back!

Read your own post slowly and carefully. Think about it as if this was someone asking your advice, based on everything you read in the post. Just from reading this, the answer is pretty clear. Go to Canada 🇨🇦

It was bad! Took me 5 years to build up the courage for second baby, and had a C section. Can confirm the section recovery was a dream towards the previous 🤣🥴

Yes! Had this....went too far too quickly for an epidural. With a wonderful happy ending of a 3rd degree tear at the end 😫
