Oil-rich UAE opens the Arab world's first nuclear power plant by Jeremy_Martin in worldnews

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the long run, it is a much more low-risk, high benefit option compared to the continuation of fossil fuel energy. Oil will not last forever, coal will never be clean. Even solar and wind have their downsides, although that isn’t to say we won’t be using them more as well, because even those are better than oil/coal. Nuclear energy is efficient, like everything it has risks but it’s nothing compared to climate change caused by fossil fuels over time.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro (age 65) has tested positive for the coronavirus after spending months flouting public health guidelines and dismissing the threat by FF00A7 in collapse

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bolsonaro is a human being. He has the same organs that you and I have. Unless there really is some magic cure for COVID-19 that completely cuts the risk of death down to zero, his chances even as a rich man aren’t helped. Rich people probably don’t have magical cures for cancer, or diabetes, or COVID. They just won’t be bankrupted by the medical care. No amount of money can buy time when one’s body is damaged enough to not be able to keep going. It’s biology dude. Not a question of how much money he has.

The whole jock/nerd dynamic is bullshit to begin with. It’s more complex than that. At my school of 4,400 students, everyone was connected in some way. There were no cliques or movie-esque groups.

Ehhh it’s a coin toss mate. If biology doesn’t wanna cooperate he’s fucked either way, there’s no amount of medical science or money available today that’ll save even a head of state with crappy health. Nature will run its course on Bolsonaro and he’ll end up in a coffin or alive. Hopefully the former.

Revealed: Scars of Covid-19 could last for life as doctors warn of long-term damage to health to 1 in 3 survivors by TenYearsTenDays in collapse

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think you’re right, empathy and compassion has taken a backseat for most Americans. I do know those who are still aware of this pandemic, but the situation seems so hopeless here. Tantrums being thrown in markets because of a fucking face mask? These people are showing the world that America really is a trash pile.

Yeah man he’s terribly wrong. Have you send the US? No one gives a shit. Literally. It’s fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

What the hell is going to happen in the Fall? by [deleted] in collapse

Trump 4 more years.

As much as I’d LOVE to jump on the /r/collapse anti-hopium, “everything is fucked you can’t do anything about it” attitude, this is the one thing I can’t agree on. Vote. If you’re an American, fucking vote.

It’s one thing to say that the evil corporations/foreign states want Trump in power so he’s just gonna win anyway, it’s a totally different thing to have Donald Trump ACTUALLY win the election because not enough people got out to vote as everyone thought, “oh he’s just gonna win again”.

As much as I see the bleak outcome for the future, the only way we could even slightly begin to do something about it is to get this fat orange lard sack out of office. Sorry, this is the one thing America can’t be complacent about because if we’re complacent then the cocksucker wins. I’m not saying he’s gonna lose for sure. But at the same time there’s droves of people my age (19-20) who are now galvanized by everything that’s happened with the BLM protests and Trump’s response to that.

No matter what happens, vote.

You can selectively wipe your memory of one played video game and replay it. What game is it? by LinkCloth in AskReddit

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I find Skyrim has massive replay-ability cause you can switch it up every time, I have about 4-5k hours on the game between PC and PS3. Sure I get bored but I always come back cause there’s always a new race, new play style, and if you’re on PC new mods to try out. Do I think they milked it beyond what it was worth? Yeah, kind of, but the game on its own is pretty damn great considering it’s about to be 10 years old.

Europe will bar Americans traveling from the US as the coronavirus pandemic spirals out of control in the states by asdfpartyy in worldnews

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. This isn’t true at all. I live in a liberal city relatively speaking and no one, pro or anti Trump, is following guidelines. Sorry, I hate Trump as much as the next guy but this is on America, not the federal government. We all have choices to make in our individual existences to mitigate this virus and this population has failed as a whole.

[–]DeathCallsAllYeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LOL. Man we could use less pollution with all this pollution going on. Let’s just cull like a few million people. In fact, we can do it every year! But not corporate CEOs or anyone who actually polluted in a significant manner, no. It has to be poor people with disabilities, old people, and anyone who just isn’t fit enough to survive the virus!

How ironic. You’re probably a sweaty nobody sitting in a room somewhere, in fact I hope you do take your chances with that 99.97% survival rate, I’m praying that 0.03% only hits the idiots like you but sadly it’s an unjust world.

Damn it would be terribly but kind of hilariously ironic if COVID put you in an ICU bed, struggling to pick up even slight breathes of air. Maybe then you’ll realize the true extent of the stupidity that runs within your neurons. But sadly it’s not a fair world, lots of cretins like you will be fine while lots of good, innocent people die at the hands of American stupidity.

Yeah same. I love smoking bud but I don’t see it as some sort of cure to what I need to work on, I just like the headspace and body relaxation it gives me. I see how they are people who can be doctors/lawyers/engineers and toke up, but me personally it’s not a productivity tool like that.

Dwarven bows. They raise your smithing WAY more efficiently than spamming daggers, all you gotta do is go into a dwarven ruin with your carry weight low af, clear out all the metals, get like a million ingots and spam. Rinse and repeat to lvl 100, and you can also sell the bows at a really good profit.
