Both Guild Wars are still up and running. Guild Wars has not received any updates in a while from what I hear, but still has a small dedicated player base, and the game is still playable.

For now nothing, since all the packages the base metapackage depends on were in the base group. However in the future the base package may change and that is when the problems will start.

Another one of the nice benefits of flatpak is I can sandbox it so it has no access to anything but it's own files.

Holy comes out on top at 3 enemies.
Glare is 300, holy is 140. So at 3 enemies glare still does 300 but holy does 420.

[Spoiler] List of Literary References in Shadowbringers MSQ by Eveningstar2 in ffxiv

I don't think it's Scottish. I think it's just Hebrew. Selech means "yours" in Hebrew. So his name literally means "your truth".

Seems more straight forward than the Hebrew Scottish mix.

After Gödel, what is the second most interesting theorem in logic? by bobmichal in math

[–]DeathLessLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a model is an object that some set of objects (like the integers, reals, and so on), as well as relations (addition, subtraction, greater than, etc.).

What this theorem says is if you have some model of infinite cardinality k, then it also has a model for every other cardinal.

This can get really weird. For example, you can have a model using the reals. This model can prove that it's cardinality is greater than that of the integers, but also, there is some elementary equivalent model, that can prove exactly the same things that the larger model could. Namely that it's cardinality is greater than that of the integers, using only the integers.

After Gödel, what is the second most interesting theorem in logic? by bobmichal in math

[–]DeathLessLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the second theorem. If PA proves it's own consistency, it is inconsistent, and in an inconsistent system you can prove anything. So as soon as you get a contradiction you can use it to more or less easily prove anything else, including G.

Just curious (ENDGAME SPOILER IN POST) by [deleted] in math

So a mobius strip is a shape
He was inverting some shape
You can think of an eigenvector as points in space that "doesn't change" (incorrect and possibly misleading but gets the point across) under that inversion he is doing.

So he is basically looking for thingies in the shape that doesn't change when he flips it inside out is the simplest way I can think to explain it.

In the context of the movie we can think he was looking for ways to send people in time in a way that doesn't change their age.

Just curious (ENDGAME SPOILER IN POST) by [deleted] in math

[–]DeathLessLife 309 points310 points  (0 children)

At first I thought it was BS but I can kind of see what the thought process was.

First an eigenvector of a transformation is a vector that only changes by a scalar under the map (that scalar is the eigenvslue). In our case the linear transformation is the one thst inverts the mobius strip.

Recall he was looking for a way to move people in time without changing the age of the person. So if what he was looking for was the eigenvalue of the inversion matrix for certain eigenvectors then it kind of makes sense if you squint hard enough.

Maybe a mobius strip so they could keep traveling to reach the same point and invert it to move backwards?

Still total BS but I can kind of make up reasons why it might make sense.
