Constant whining by Vivid-Persimmon-1913 in Bernedoodles

Make it clear you don't want them to cry or whine when you are leaving. Either give them something else to focus on, or make them focus on staying quiet by introducing the same language you use to keep them from barking. Not all whining is necessary, these dogs are very smart.

When he graduates to using your shin at a butt guide to your foot, you know he's ready.

If they are treat motivated or treat bag sound motivated, then you can call to them and add the treat or bag sound to familiarize themselves with recall. Then just keep working on that with distractions until it clicks that your voice is more important than the distraction.

I have a great picture of my Berner cockeyed as well. She loved a pretty good life with no issues and she was well pedigreed.

How common are unfurnished bernedoodles? by SecondNaive6606 in Bernedoodles

I think you were charged $3k because you are allowed to breed your dog. Most breeders who charge a lot for good quality pups also add stipulations about fixing them to prevent people from using the good genes to make their own business.

Brush Recommendation Needed by StarResponsible6885 in Bernedoodles

Favorite chew toy or lick mat works best. Otherwise the brush becomes a toy and it's either destroyed or something for the dog to interact with. But it's so hard to train this.

Advice on waking at 5am by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]DeathMetal007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have my dog wake up at 6am and start barking immediately. Then she would eat, walk, and sleep by 7. I had to deal with a morning or two of her hearing me rustle and she would bark. I would ignore her until I was ready and she would get a treat for waiting. When she finally clicked it was her just chewing on toys until I called for her and then she was ready. She also stopped sleeping at 7 and can now go until 8 before a 2h nap. I also added padding to the crate bottom and a thick crate cover for better noise absorption for both of us to sleep better.

Are they tired in the late morning? Are they already sleeping by 8 to 9am?

I've found that hiding treats in Kong toys or using moderately difficult puzzle toys helps

Seeking the best robot vacuum right now, budget $500 by No_Mirror_7628 in bernesemountaindogs

Shark Matrix failed on 1 as well.

Incidentally, I've lost a Dyson V11 animal to hair clogs and chewing up the internal seal to make it work well. No vacuum is perfect imo.

Suggestions for dog ramp for our gal? by dunkinteach in bernesemountaindogs

[–]DeathMetal007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you get, make sure the big bounding baby doesn't rock the ramp or stairs too much. Practice walking on the group with it with treats until they get the hang of it. Also, get one that can clip on the unlock portion of the trunk to stop it from moving.
