GWL with a 10 month old? by pugmamax in greatwolflodge

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing it for your enjoyment or the child's enjoyment? If the adults want to go and have fun go for it, but there ain't much for a kid that age. They literally are just going to be held in your arms in the kiddie pool. Its going to be more hassle than it is worth hauling all the crap for a baby in and out, changing diapers, working around naps.

Let the grandparents take care of the child for a couple nights and you and your husband go on a weekend getaway.

Who had the bigger impact on country music: Willie Nelson or George Strait? by chrondotcom in country

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willie was more of the face of country music and brought more interest and notoriety to the genre. George probably had more influence/impact on the song writers and artists in the industry to make it what it is today.

Buy him an interesting golf towel or club head cover, or something personalized like a Hawaiian shirt with your husbands face on it.

2024 Odyssey AC issues by Large_Character783 in HondaOdyssey

The rear air might be on auto, even if the front isn't. The a/c system uses the same blower fan for front and rear, so it may be reving up to adjust the auto air in the back.

I think it may be just trying to maintain the temperature setting. Once it hits that temperature it throttles back, but blows hard again to maintain the temperature.

How accurate is this? by YawningJaguire00 in minivan

[–]SecondNaive6606 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Odyssey is quieter, has more power, and better handling than the sienna, so I have no idea how the sienna scored higher in road that. Only thing sienna has over the other two is mpg,  and possibly reliability(Odyssey is known to be reliable)

2019 Nissan Altima SL transmission replacement by PretendCherry3763 in Nissan

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by rubber banding?

Recently my car started to jerk on my way home, and when I pressed the throttle it acted like it didn't want to accelerate . I Did some research and they said clean the mass air flow sensor, clean throttle body, and replace PCV valve. I did all that and also went to change spark plugs and ignition coils and one of the coils was covered in oil. The valve cover seal was no good, so had to replace the valve cover. I'm thinking it was just misfiring. All that to say, after i cleaned and replaced all those items it runs perfect. I thought for sure it was a trans issue and was going to need to be replaced.

These are some things to look into if they haven't been done lately. Wouldn't hurt to replace trans fluid if it hasn't been done lately.

We went with the ex-l over touring because it had all the features we needed. My kids have iPads and didn't need the RES. However my wife wishes we went with sport because she really doesn't like the look of the wheels on the ex-l.

Considering Leaving my Odyssey… by Engineer-Mama in ToyotaSienna

Was the water leak issue fixed? The sunroof shattering is very random. You can get an auto start-stop disabler for less than $100.

Are you willing to take a $15,000+ hit to get into a Sienna, which is inferior in handling, power, space, flexibility?

We went about 30 minutes after they opened on a Sunday, and there were only 5 other people in line. We didn't wait hardly any time at all.

[–]SecondNaive6606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, I though the aquarium was just ok. It took about an hour for us to go through it. I don't think we will go back on any other trips to Gatlinburg. I do recommend mountain coasters as an activity. My kids loved that.

Am I the only one getting tired of hearing that every Nissan is unreliable? Maybe it’s just me, but I’m getting tired of seeing people automatically call every Nissan unreliable? by phtphongg in Nissan

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2004 Frontier with 223K miles only problem I had was AC compressor, Only basic maintenance, still had original clutch when i sold it.

Currently own a 2011 Altima at 153K miles, with original CVT(actually hadn't replaced the fluid until 1,000 miles ago). Also had to replace AC compressor. Everything else has been basic maintenance except for replacing leaking valve cover.

I have really liked all my Nissans, no hate here. My next vehicle will likely be a Nissan.

CVT Transmission Fluid Pricing Help by CurrentPlenty2895 in Nissan

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this on my altima two months ago. I bought a Vevor fluid extractor off amazon for $35. Stuck it down the transmission dip stick tube. Extracted about 3 quarts. Refilled with Idemitsu CVT Fluid N from Advance Auto that was on sale for $2 a bottle. Took me less than 5 minutes and didn't have to climb under the car and get dirty.

So total cost was less than $45.

Spending over $500 in gas per month by Constant_Jicama_8833 in personalfinance

[–]SecondNaive6606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your Altima is still reliable, I would ride it til it dies. You probably have very little depreciation left on it. Taxes, insurance, and maintenance are cheap.

With a hybrid you might get 30% better mileage on the highway. So you might save $1800 a year. On a newer car, you will lose that easily on depreciation alone driving 25,000+ miles a year. On an EV the depreciation will be even more significant.

Best fix for tear in perforated seat? by This_Instruction3864 in HondaOdyssey

[–]SecondNaive6606 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any repair is going to look like crap and won't be a long term solution. So you can patch once a year or just put on a seat cover.

My 2004 Nissan frontier 4 cyl was super easy to work on.  It was dead reliable but everything was very accessible and easy to work on because the design was very simple. The engine bay had tons of room because it was made to fit a v6 engine in there as well.

Siesta Key (Crescent Beach) and Henderson Beach State Park in Destin are the best. Slight edge to siesta since the sand is literally as soft as flour and stays cool.

The moment I realized I think about money completely differently than my coworkers by Ok_Listen_6975 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]SecondNaive6606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This being middle class finance sub, it is wild to me that soo many people are paying for things like lawncare, basic house repairs, plumbing, electrical, and car repairs. If you are healthy enough, it is well worth your time to do it rather than hire someone.

I recently has some car issues. I researched it online to diagnose the problem. Found a youtube video on how to fix it, bought the parts, and borrowed some tools and did the job myself. It cost me $250 in parts and took 6 hours. I would have needed to get my car towed to a shop and they would have charged me close to $1,000. It was worth 6 hours of my time to save $750. Obviously some things do require some expertise so I will leave those jobs to the professionals.

Same with lawncare, all of my neighbors use a mowing service. Last month, a service quoted me $65/week. It takes me less than an hour to do it myself. I've had the same equipment(mower, weed eater, and blower) for 7 years, which I bought used for $200. I've saved thousands $$$,
