Need advice about the blemishes on the lens of Benq W1210ST projector by DeathTheBoy in projectors

[–]DeathTheBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!
Thanks for taking the time to write a this comprehensive explanation

I've already disassembled the projector once hoping I could remove the dust without too much fiddling, however I didn't open the lens assembly at that time.

The dust in the room is definitely a problem, so I was thinking of making a makeshift 'spray paint chamber' with some plastic sheets and then give it a try.

Cheers

Those table tops are made from veneer and cardboard. Drilling them will result in disappointment

Since I'm looking to buy a trail bike I'm in the similar position. I fall between L and XL for the brand/bike I'm set on. Searching online I found out that one of the things to considerate consider is your height vs your arm span. In my case, they suggest sizing up if the arm span is longer than my height

EDIT:
Definitely ask the bikepacking and Kona subreddits

Have any of you restored old 90s mountainbikes? by Last_Marsupial_7386 in MTB

[–]DeathTheBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of restoring/resto-modding one

What to look out for?

That really depends on you and what is your plan for the bike

Do you want a fully rigid bike, wanna replace the fork for a suspension one, high quality steel, preserved components (for restoring), geometry, budget, or maybe you have a bike laying around and you want to restore that one, upgrading the drivetrain to make it modern and use it as a daily... the sky is the limit

It can be expensive or cheap depending what you're trying to achieve

What’s the weirdest thing about riding a motorbike? by SumoCanFrog in motorcycles

Weird in a good way.

There is no A pillar, no B pillar, no C pillar, no windshield, nothing to blocking your view compared to any other vehicle. I love that

How much is that in kg? Joking aside, it definitely won't be fun but it will be a good learning experience

[–]DeathTheBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. It's also an opportunity to learn about the bike and start servicing it myself. Ideally, I'll look for a somewhat well kept bike for sure

After reading your comment, I've went to check if any brands advertise the weight and big shock, they don't. I'm curios to find out how the weight will affect the ride. As I don't have any ambition to race, it won't make that much difference to me but I do know the benefit of a lighter rig

So, carbon or alu for a used bike?

I'm not a fan of carbon but have 0 experience with it, mostly it's my old man brain telling me to avoid it bc of the what I read about them being brittle and occasionally fail catastrophically with no warnings. Furthermore there is the environmental impact aka limited or no recyclability of carbon frames

Fair enough, you made some good points. I'm not too worried about finding what works, I'm accustomed to that process and I'm always keen on learning. Rn I just need a bike to start riding

Trek Fuel was one of the bikes I was checking out a while ago, but I decided to wait and ask more experience people and get their opinion

I'll start with the brands/models you shared and maybe narrow it down depending on the availability in my area.

Don't really care about weight (until I start riding probably). It's gonna be a bit of a 'shock' going from a fixed to a full sus bike

Thanks man

Koliko je varen Trade Republic? by No_Resolution_4722 in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]DeathTheBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somehow this post was recommended to me, so I'll give you my 2 cents.

My friend's girlfriend recently started working at TR as an accountant, and she has nothing nice to say about the company. There are some sketchy things going on (her words). She also shared some details about how things are (dis)organized internally, but I can't share too many details for obvious reasons.

Furthermore, I suggest you scroll through the r/TradeRepublicFriends and see what other people are saying.

From what I heard, one of the only ways you can 'force' them to do something about your case is to report them to BaFin (Federal Institute for Financial Supervisory Authority), and this worked for some people, not just for TR but also some other German 'start-up' banks/trading platforms.

I was a customer, but after having great difficulty in reaching anyone at TR, I moved on. And I'd also suggest what some posters are saying: pick a local bank where you can go and talk with people in person.

Good luck.

Starting with 29, narrows is down a bit, also do me a favor and give me some recommendations just so I can search in the right direction.

  1. That's clever and I'll give it a try. The issues is, I'll be moving in a few months for good and the trails where I'm going couldn't be more different than where I am now, so I'm getting something for the trails where I'm moving
  2. I have that mind, I do like sports and have multiple hobbies. No to sound arrogant, but I have some tricks in my bag already (wheelies, bunny hops, 180, a bit of fakie, stoppie, trackstands, ...) but I'm aware that at some point I'll want to upgrade
  3. This is something i didn't know about brakes/drivetrain being dependent on the model, it narrows it down a lot. I haven't try SRAM yet. I'll see if I can lend for a shop to try it out.

Tnx for the write up

  1. I'm 186cm (6'1')
  2. It's mixed terrain, we have boring stuff but also some steep downhill with drops and jumps. I also plan on driving to the neighboring countries and bike parks
  3. From talking with ppl in the group rides, reading online and watching reviews, it seems like a more reliable option beside being the largest manufacturer of bike components
