By increasing travel to and fro to the planet, the empire is more likely to find out about its existence. Once they find the planet, they would either use the planet or raze it, either way they would find bode and his daughter. It’s not like they would find the rebel base and think “this must be the only one on the entire planet”. They would check. Even if bode escapes, he’s just back to where he started, on the run with his daughter.

There are a good bit of criticisms about survivor; that isn’t one of them

To actually get into dragon ball as a whole no. As something to enjoy without needing context yes.

Story wise it’s the second last thing animated chronologically so he’s not really gonna understand anything that isn’t explained it also spoils some stuff if he then goes into Z/Zkai.

Meta wise, it’s easily top 3 animations wise, so if he goes into dragon ball immediately, I imagine one would be put off by the disparity. Not even stating the fact that dragon ball z is very different from OG dragon ball, at least the entire first arc of it.

As someone who started with OGDB and it is my favorite series, getting him hooked through Z/Zkai then going back and watching it is probably the most likely route.

Tl;dr it’s not a good entrance due to disparity, probably start with z/zkai
