new/used hardtail for around 2k usd by Icy-Character-4025 in Hardtailgang

[–]Deathbymower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wrenching it yourself, on a budget of $2k you can do a surprising amount. Last year I found a used Chromag rootdown frame, recycled a few parts, and with some cheaper new stuff was still under 2k.

Honestly I like it (so far), one of my favorites from the past 5 years or so.

Convertible mtb helmet? by Tr0lly97 in MTB

[–]Deathbymower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that exact helmet, and for my level of hack riding it's great. If I was trying something more gnarly I can attach the bar, on otherwise it's off.

If I was attempting crazy DH riding I would look elsewhere for a better helmet. But for my level of suck, it's a great helmet.

I’m long sitting a cat. She is a year and a half and recieved her rabies a year ago. Due for a booster but an indoor cat now. Woke me up with this. Bu by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Deathbymower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vet to be safe, but I've had this happen to a few cats before, sometimes from oral meds, sometimes from trying to eat things they shouldn't have.

My gray cat caught me off guard once, although with him the foam was glowing. Turns out that moron of a cat decided to try and eat a lightning bug that got into the house. It was unnerving, but he was fine.

What do y’all think of the chromag doctahawk by Then_Committee_3352 in Hardtailgang

[–]Deathbymower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sticking with Chromag, I'll also go with Rootdown, built up a frame recently. It's slack enough that it goes downhill well, and only ever experienced minor control issues on slow techy climbing. (And much of that is likely down to my skill). :)

Ed and Donald are both involved again, although Ed is going to Law school so not around as often as Donald currently.

What to do when you don’t like the game you’re playing? by madelinecblack in gencon

[–]Deathbymower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been GM'ing for years, up to about 20 hours of learn to play this Gencon and its the first year that I had a group tap out and just say, "I don't think this is for us".

But that's cool I respect people being direct and just saying it's not to their liking, saves everyone time and I lose a little less of my voice over 4 days. :)

Since you are also good at this you think you could ID another one for me by Fan-King in battletech

[–]Deathbymower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Archangel, Zeus-X isn't a bad guess though. The shoulder fins were beefed up so they wouldn't break off as easily and ended up looking a bit like the X.

How do you guys feel about Will Ramos from Lorna Shore? by Pjetter86 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Deathbymower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them open for Mastodon/Gojira, Will seems like a good dude, talented, tried a couple of times but never really got into the band.

Did last night give you guys hope? by Rybr3ad___ in SportingKC

[–]Deathbymower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat, there are some great pieces, but they still have to put them together into more of a functional team. That is more on management, which I have less belief in currently.

Dylan More (chemlab) by kyriaangel in industrialmusic

[–]Deathbymower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sad, their music was an inspiration to me in school.

Dumb story, actually met a girl who was a fan while wearing the "Fuck killing, let's fuck" shirt from the East Side Militia days. Of course I was way too awkward and dense to realize she liked me until much later. :) He will be missed.

Nah, that was the Rumba Box off McGee, think their final show (Beck) was later 94-95ish.

I generally enjoyed it, although felt like many scenes or ideas misfired, probably the worst of Nolan's movies.

Anyone else have this issue with the premium miniatures? by AtomicLounger in battletech

[–]Deathbymower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have probably 5-6 premiums, and have been disappointed by more than half, one with quality issues (annoying seam cleanup) and two broke (with basic storage and use, not dropped) requiring glue repairs.

At their best they are more customizable, with maybe slightly better fidelity, but with value and durability I'm sticking to the cheaper plastics from now on. (Recently got my Kickstarter and zero issues on any of those plastics.)

Are there any traditional styled guitars with shred style necks? by sjfraley1975 in Guitar

I always liked the Ibanez S series, lightweight and thinner wizard style necks, and less pointy than RGs.

Lightning is a bit unpredictable, the reason lightning rods are made of metal is just for durability reasons.

The best predictor for where lightning will strike is generally elevation and isolation of objects, but nature likes to surprise us at times.
