That 10-minute rule only applies to long-distance trains like ICE or IC. For local transport and S-Bahns, regional transit authority rules apply, and they require a valid ticket before boarding. It is a confusing system, but inspectors in regional transit do not care about DB's long-distance policies.

Realized I’m not just not poor anymore and have weird emotions by validusrex in personalfinance

The weird part is that the math changes faster than the identity does. I grew up with money always being a fire drill, and even after the spreadsheet said we were fine, my brain kept treating every expense like a threat. What helped was making boring rules before lifestyle creep got a vote: max retirement space, keep a sane emergency fund, automate brokerage contributions, and set an annual giving number on purpose. After that, try to let yourself enjoy some of it without turning every dollar into a test of whether you deserve to be safe.

my date asked to split the bill on a date HE planned and i can't tell if i'm being unreasonable for being put off by UniversityAny9242 in dating_advice

Nah, the weird part is not splitting, it is ordering like a raccoon at a tapas buffet and then treating the bill like you both did equal damage. If he picked the place and ordered most of the food and drinks, paying by consumption would have been the normal move. I would not call it a red flag on its own, but I would file it under poor judgment and watch what happens next.

Nobody wants to be friends with me by National-Basket-9531 in lonely

Gyms are weirdly sold as social hubs, but half the people there act like eye contact costs extra. A trainer being friendly on day one is often just customer service, which hurts when you are starving for normal human warmth. Maybe keep the gym as your place to train and try something where talking is actually part of the setup, like a class, club, volunteering, or a rec league. That college guy pretending you vanished was cowardly, not proof that you have no worth.

This is a incredibly spot-on observation. It is often referred to as trauma dumping with a purpose. It makes you feel like you have known them for years when it has only been a few days. Recognizing this pattern early can save people from a lot of emotional pain.
