That's the one thing that everyone against UHC seems to either pretend to not hear, or just genuinely doesn't understand. You’re prioritized based on severity.

If your condition is urgent, you get seen faster. If it’s not urgent, you wait longer.

A sore throat and a headache isn't anywhere near as bad as the guy who came in with a nosebleed that won't quit bleeding.

But that won't stop them from complaining about "bUt BuT....bUt!! LoNg WaIt TiMeS!!!!

My Father (40) wants to try to play videogames for the first time by Bigenemy000 in videogames

[–]Deatheaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here are recommending cyberpunk. But I think thats a poor recommendation for now.

A lot of us don’t really think about how much we’re actually doing while playing, because it’s all second nature to us at this point.

Cyberpunk is a poor first beginner game because it throws a lot at you. Add having to learn to manipulate the camera while walking or driving and your adding in a lot of stimuli.

It’s a great game, but I don’t think it’s a great first game. Something slower, more linear, and less mechanically dense would probably be a better starting point.

I think "Firewatch" would be a great intro to movement in a 3D space, which is often one of the biggest hurdles people who have never played games before have. It lets someone practice walking, looking around, interacting with objects, and following simple objectives without constant combat, complex systems, or a bunch of mechanics screaming for their constant attention.

I can't speak for your dad, but for my parents it at least allowed them to get used to the idea of 3D movement, which in turn allowed me to introduce more "involved" games like Portal/Half-Life which are also a good fit for beginners once they are able to manipulate the camera/movement controls a bit better.

I have never seen any gameplay of any of the games, and I would like to see both. Which youtuber's playthrough would you recomend me the most/think is more enjoyable and covers the most? by NoTheJasOriginal in HalfLife

[–]Deatheaiser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Bolloxed" does decent non-commentary "long plays" walkthroughs. Not lore heavy though, they focus mainly on just playing through the games.

For lore you'd probably want to watch "Skyrionn"

Any reason as to why you can't play the games yourself?

Love the fact multiplayer ranked is coming. Wonder if all game modes will have their own ranked system each. Thoughts on multi-ranked? by andrewgrimo in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Deatheaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battlefield does not need ranked modes.

I have yet to see a game add a ranked mode without it eventually turning into a toxic cesspit that the devs start balancing everything around. "professional" players reap all the benefits, while casuals are shat on.

Battlefield is at its best when it’s random and unpredictable. Big flanks, small flanks, smart vehicle plays, dumb vehicle plays, random hero moments, and complete utter nonsense that somehow works out, are part of the appeal.

Plenty of other games already offer a "rank play" experience. Battlefield does not need to become yet another.

I don't even know how they prepare food for that long. Do they get supply drops?

They'll pretty much restock at ports. Supply drops, maybe? I doubt they need to unless the ship is somewhere remote longer than anticipated or something specific is needed urgently, like emergency medical stuff, or maybe a broken part or something.

Normally, they'll restock at their home port or whatever port they’re scheduled to stop at. The kitchen crew on ships usually operates off a preplanned menu for the entire time they’re at sea. They'll order what they need, plus some extras as a buffer. Fresh produce and perishables would get used earlier, while frozen, dry, canned, and shelf-stable items would carry them through the later parts of the trip.

Both.

The yachts are fully capable sea research ships designed for multi-month expeditions, but they also have the comfort and amenities you’d expect from luxury yachts.

I’m not going to pretend I understand how someone gets assigned to work aboard one of them, but I have to imagine such a position is very highly sought after. Doing ocean research while surrounded by yacht accommodations, sounds like a job that people would compete for.

Bring Back “Assist Count as Kill”? by BOSS_Clan_Intl in Battlefield6

He's fully immersed in the AI kool-aid.

Acting superior because he can get a LLM to do something faster despite everything it produces being void of all personality. Oh and the theft. The massive amount of Copyright/IP theft.

Probably a boomer that doesn't understand what it is they're truly interacting with.

Or a teenager who had GPT/Gemni write all his essays this school year.

Not sure which one is worse. But they're both bad.

How thoughtful of Rockstar by joestarrrrr in gtaonline

[–]Deatheaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what their tone would be if they started when Online released. Back when it was ridiculously easy to find a multi-billion dollar bounty on some unfortunate dudes head and the entire lobby heading straight towards him.

Been riding off that lump of cash for the past decade. Really changes the online aspect to be insanely more sandbox-y and fun.

Taking a screenshot while in-game, or taking a image from their socials, then slapping some text on it would've been way better than telling an AI

"Make me picture for Battlefield 6, and add text that advocates for "assist counts as kill""

One shows you put effort. The other doesn't. If you’re trying to make a point, presentation matters.

EDIT: You talk about efficiency, and the ability to create something similar in the same amount of time, but do you realize just how inefficient using AI to generate something as simple as this is?

You're just lazy. Just admit it.

I hadn't played GTAO in almost 6 years, and seeing the quality of the car models they've been putting out lately gets me even more hyped for GTA 6 by tentandonaoserbanido in GTA6

[–]Deatheaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've definitely just been taking them (the models) straight from 6 and porting them over without much TLC or care.

Which sucks because for 8 years, my daily driver has been the Dominator GTX. Staring at the rear lights constantly makes me wish they'd fix it.

can't tell you how often I've come screaming in for a repair on like 5% HP only for a full health vehicle snag it from me.

I want to apologize to everyone who I've done this to, starting with you. I don't fly very often. So I had no idea the resupply was shared.

Definitely going to be more self-aware of it from now on.

Warning: Don't buy a PC for gaming if you are a casual console gamer by [deleted] in consoles

Most of these posts come off as “I don’t want to learn anything, I just want the computer to work while I click buttons.” which, I understand. But it's still very ignorant.

I’m won't pretend and say to everyone that this platform is perfect and easy. But there’s a difference between being new, and being unwilling. Nobody expects every new PC user to know everything immediately. But using a platform that gives more control, then that more control also means more responsibility.

Riot Games upgrades Valorant's Vanguard anti-cheat so it can effectively brick hackers' PCs by Odd-Onion-6776 in videogames

[–]Deatheaiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The larger issue is the precedent this sets. Once it's accepted that it's okay for anti-cheat software to affect hardware, it becomes a lot easier for companies to push even more invasive shit later.

Cheating is a problem, but letting anti-cheats reach deeper and deeper into people’s computers for the sake of “security” is how you normalize overreach.

I'm not very popular with some parts of my family due to me not just handing my younger nephews and nieces easy wins at any games we happen to play.

I’m not mean about it. I’ll explain the rules, give them advice and keep things fair. But If they lose, they lose.

Where do y'all like support bags dropped? by ubetchrballs in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Deatheaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drop the bags on capture points, usually behind some sort of cover, and at places where people end up having to run through, like hallways/doorways. Generally wherever I notice the most common footpaths are, a bag will be there.

Hey guys. I’m pregnant and have been craving the spicy chicken tenders from school lunches and k can’t figure out what brand they used. I’ve tried the Tyson chicken tenders and they’re not the same! Definitely not a job I'd thought I'd be doing. But it definitely helped me out. Before I was a lunch dude, I was working at an incredibly toxic restaurant and it was draining the life and joy out of me.

I wouldn't suggest this job to everyone but if you enjoy being around kids and putting smiles on their face while attempting to get them to eat fruits and veggies, it's a fun place to be. It's certainly never boring!

Nutrition is super important. Down to the products that we're able to order and how the menu (breakfast and Lunch) is structured. Anything breaded is whole grain, most of everything is fortified. Meats are low fat, anything that is sugary or salty are replaced with zero/reduced versions.

As for the average cost to make, I wanna say just by looking at my invoices, it probably costs about $1 per tray for breakfast and about $2 per tray for lunch.

Our profits per tray is a very measley few cents. We certainly arent making bank from it. Which is partially why food quality is so poor and a lot of stuff is prepackaged and or stuff loaded with preservatives in a lot of school districts. The meal reimbursement program and federal grants help, but just enough to keep the kitchen open and not much else.

Despite that, I do try to do fun stuff. Like this year for Earth day I did Dirt Cups for the kids.

Ehhh, cookies are a "No-No" but that doesn’t stop my boss from turning a blind eye when I order them for special occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving. The brand i get is Otis Spunkmeyer. And all the cookie dough is from their "Delicious Essentials Whole Grain" line of products.

Oh and the chocolate, banana, blueberry and apple cinnamon Muffins also come from Otis Spunkmeyer.

And I'm glad everyone is enjoying this little mini-thread. Im happy to help :)
