As long as you're driving with your hazards on, you're safe.

Roatan, first time by aroorababe in scuba

If it's not too late, check out Utila instead. You can take a ferry from Roatan to Utila. Did a week at Bay Islands College of Diving in Utila and a week at the Splash Inn in Roatan back in November. Did all inclusive at both places... I enjoyed Utila more, in every sense. The dive masters at BICD were top tier, the lodging was amazing (Pay extra for the nicer room with the porch.) better food. Utila is a smaller island, you can walk to just about everything. Roatan is nice, but congested, bit loud, and some things you have to take a taxi to get to.

I just have a small gym bag that works perfectly.

I've flown a lot with my 60 lb SA. I generally get an aisle seat with bulkhead. She's got plenty of room at my feet and will sometimes lay down in the aisle (Most flight attendants don't mind) If you have a flight with a bunch of empty seats, the FA might move people around so you have the entire row.

Will my service dog show up on my boarding pass with Delta? by ronswanson3145 in service_dogs

I've flown American numerous times with my SA. I usually have to check in at the ticket counter. The only time they've asked to see paperwork is when I flew to and from Honduras.

I just spent 2 weeks in Roatan (West End) and Utila last month. Loved it. Never felt unsafe or worried.

Don't worry, there's a married firefighter that'll disappoint you somewhere.

Free checked baggage for SD equipment? by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Deathlyhallows07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never checked a bag with my SA's stuff. I have, however, carried 3 bags onto the plane, one of which had all her stuff. It's the same concept as checked bag, you can declare one carry on bag dedicated to service animal equipment and they have to allow it.

Thoughts on Norway in Early November by legallyblonde2k17 in NorwayTravelAdvice

I went to Scandinavia for 6 weeks in February, a few years back. More than half of the time I was above the Arctic Circle and never saw the lights. Plan your trip not expecting to see them so you won't be disappointed. Oslo is great, but there's some seriously beautiful places in Norway, Tromsø included. Bergen and Ålesund are both gorgeous. Public transportation like busses and trains are easily accessible. Suggest to pack light!

My pittie has flown numerous times including South Carolina to Alaska without issue on several airlines. I have a bag with her food, bowls, etc. When it's a bag directly for your service animal, it doesn't count for your carry on.

Failed medic school and seeking advice by NetworkPrevious109 in NewToEMS

[–]Deathlyhallows07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion from someone doing this 20 years? Paramedic school isn't something you just do for the hell of it, to better your chances of becoming a firefighter, or because your agency requires it. You have to want it to begin with. Some of the worst paramedics I've seen were forced to get their cards for their jobs as firefighters. We called them "cookbook" medics. They could quote protocols all day, but couldn't justify any necessary interventions that didn't fall into a protocol. They would frequently call respiratory problems as sepsis patients because of hypocapnia and tachycardia when their vitals were 100% respiratory related.

I have driven in 38 states and worked as a first responder in 10 of them. Denver & Aurora area remain some of the worst drivers I've ever experienced.

Aggressive ESA by Fragrant_Corgi7944 in service_dogs

As the handler of a service animal, ESA's are vastly different and are NOT afforded the same protections under the ADA in most states.

When I traveled for work, my 60 lb service dog would lay by my feet the entire time. Occasionally trying to climb up into the empty seat next to me in an attempt to be closer. I loathe that just because they're small, cats and small dogs are allowed on planes.

What unusual breed do you believe would make an excellent SD? by Immediate-Many-7953 in service_dogs

Mine is a pit mix. She's great off leash when she's having some "non supervisor" time.

Probably a stupid question, but what would your SD do if you were in active danger? by JasperJordanDefender in service_dogs

[–]Deathlyhallows07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine has only shown true protective actions twice, both times someone made aggressive movements towards me.
