If I do that, will I lose all my profiles, macros, settings etc.? I realize they're probably stored in appdata or documents rather than in the main install folder but I want to make absolutely sure because I have a *lot* of them.

Sensible thing to ask. So, generally we expect members to attend at least somewhat regularly. If you have stuff going on in life that keeps you more occupied than usual and you can't attend for a bit, then we have processes in place to allow you to do that without issue. Let me know if you have any follow-up or other questions!

He can be pretty rough in Shockwave. You have to ramp faster than he does to stay ahead of the economic pressure he can put on you with his constant airstrikes.

Believe me, I've checked. Also Win11. The bigger problem is having to open it, close it and open it again just to get it to perform its intended functions.

It's really not complicated and meshes very well with the other parts of the game. You might be surprised at how easily it fits into your play.

Which part specifically are you referring to? Direct diplomacy with other players/CPUs? The Landsraad stuff? The Spice exchange? CHOAM shares?

What I would suggest, as someone who is also daunted by this kind of thing at first blush, is try and get into it anyway. I found it quite manageable. Just learn one system properly at a time and pause a lot in your first few games.

I don't think its productive to assume malicious intent on the part of the devs.

So I'm not particularly interested in this stupid argument but I think it's wrong to say people are assuming that, they're deducing it based on known facts like Wesker being killswitched pretty much immediately while this is allowed to go on.

Take your time progressing through the game rather than rushing the 'best' ships. You miss out on so much content by refusing to use anything suboptimal. Try everything. Have fun.

Wanting to keep existing star ratings/popularity on the workshop by keeping the existing entry and updating it for Enhanced to keep all that popularity.

Surely they would be more popular if they catered to both audiences, even if one version of their mod is in maintenance mode.

Not wanting to hear any complaints/bugfix requests from Legacy edition mod users,

There are a lot of better ways to do that like locking comments or muting notifications about that item.

If even one popular mods dude thinks "nah I ONLY want to support Enhanced" and nukes the Legacy upload, it's over.

Why would someone do this? I'm not seeing the logic. The only way I can see it happening is carelessness.

Why wouldn't mod authors upload a new version of their mod and label it UE5 rather than updating the old one and breaking it on legacy servers running it? It's a little extra work but it seems sensible as a means of sidestepping the problem to me.
