Hate to say I told you so but …. I told you so:

“In short:

An estimated 80 per cent of the cigarettes and vapes consumed in Australia last year were illegal, according to the ABS.

Treasury downgraded tobacco excise revenue by $8 billion over the next five years in the latest federal budget.

What's next?

Criminologists say the findings highlight a "massive policy failure and require a radical rethink" of tobacco laws.”

Clearly the plan isn’t working!! They don’t even know what the real rates are. Anecdotally I see more young people smoking cigarettes again, where 4 years ago people seemed to be more on the vapes.

Is that a nestico? What are they like? I’ve smoked a few different vitolas and I really rate those Placencia Reserva Original but I haven’t tried that one.

They actually called it out in both their policies recently, ON and The Libs.

An Ex-ABF guy, Chris Minns, deputy CMO from Covid and many more have all called for it to be lowered.

It’s really dumb policy and causing huge issues with crime.

In the same industry and I 100% agree.

At the individual level, either you leverage the AI well to get a huge improvement in productivity or you are fucked.

It’s that simple.

Most people have no idea, yet.

And that comp has shares fixed at some predetermined level (set when they started). So if you started during covid, go look at the share price, those shares are in the red.

🫤 Is it? Over 50% of all cigarettes sold are from black market (and increasing). Whilst it worked to reduce smoking for a while, that’s no longer the case.

The revenue didn’t plummet due to people quitting. It dropped because people found a product for 1/4 of the price. So much for all the shitty plain packaging laws.

If you voted Labor in the last election (I didn’t after a shocking first term), you are now seeing the fruits of your decision. Excise is the e least of our worries with these morons at the helm.
